Bed and mattress - Where to get a really good one?

I have no idea where to start looking...

Hi guys,

moving to Munich in three days, gulp, and into an unfurnished flat. As we've always had furnished flats in London we need to get the elementals and the one thing I think is worth really investing in is a bed for a good night's sleep. Does anyone have any recommendations of quality / comfortable brands and where to get them in Munich? Slightly odd question, I know, but no decent bed = one grumpy girl.

Thanks,

I would start with a latex matress in Ikea ( 2 in M )
ebay comes next (for the bed frame etc).

I still have a good bed for sale cheap. Can't say the same for the mattresses that go with it, but at least they will do until you buy new ones.
Segmüller has good ones and also the "springs".

I can recommend Ebay as we just did a successful trip to buy a bedframe out of ÄMunich.

For the mattress there is a shop right next to McDonalds in the OEZ (near the smelly kebab shop)

There's a mattress discount store on Rosenheimerstr at the corner with Schleibingerstr. No idea what the quality is like or how much they cost.

Most of the big furniture houses have matress departments with stuff in all price ranges. Ikea have some very cheap matresses but only with springs (Federkern) as far as I know. There is also a chain of matress shops in munich called Matratzen Concord (who make their own). Their stuff is quite good, I bought one from them that was a Test-Sieger in the Stiftung Waren Test for around €300.

If you go to Ikea in Eching (near the airport) there is also a "Lagerverkauf" place belonging to Kaufhof around the corner (so coming from the motorway, it's before Ikea on the little industrial estate ringroad.) They sell really good quality stuff, often dirt cheap. Especially frames are cheap from kurz&fundig (www.sperrmuell.de) or ebay, or here on TT!

I recently got an unfurnished apartment. I bought a roll up mattress for a really good price and its really comfortable.

You can get threse at Walmart(Am Hart) and also near a previously mentioned post (behind Macs near OEZ) rolleyes.gif

single matress is 50 euros
double 80 euros

Its great on the floor without the frame to.

I hope this helps.

i think it's worth spending a bit of money on a mattress. the type u get, though, depends on the type of latrost you've got (support slats under mattress). there's a good shop just past goetheplatz, away from town on left before poccistr.
