Uplifting songs

Records that make you feel positive and cheerful

What songs do you listen to when something has you down and you need to pull your bootstraps up and get cheerful?

I am generally doing fine but this business with my sister (and her husband - actually it's all about him) dry.gif
is putting me in a mood that isn't condusive to the things that I need to get done.

I thought about "Walking on Sunshine" but nah, I don't think that would do the trick.

There are different kinds of uplifting songs like:

Songs to tell someone to "fuck off, I'm ok." Such as "I will survive".

But that's not really my mood.

What do you listen to when you want to say "fuck off, I'm OK"?

Then there's the:

"I can do anything" songs that inspire you to exhibit more confidence.

Uplifting songs that thank someone for being there for you: but I definately don't feel in THAT mood.

Well, people..what song lifts you up will you need it?
DDBug
I pop in a random play of 80s boppy stuff intermixed with rough-edge bowie. The louder the better - whatever the mood.

I would say, "Everything" by Michael Buble (sp?) but that would just remind me that I DON'T have a boyfriend!
Eleanor Rigby
Edwin - Alive

z_charron
Sounds like you need this song by Ani Difranco. Great chorus.

Wonderfully uplifting and beautifully vindictive.
Scogs
Masterbation Blues by David Alan Coe could be uplifting to some people laugh.gif

Anything by Scooter. Not taking the piss, odd songs but how upbeat do you feel after them.

Try "Nessaja" first. All on youtube. If you work out the price of the fish let me know.

So what song's would you guys choose for the following circumstances:

1. You're feeling genuinely fantastic and just want to walk around the house shaking your head and dancing in front of the mirror when no one is looking.

2. You want to tell someone who has made your life more complicated or hurt you, to go fuck themselves sideways with one of those porcupines that Janx Spirit likes.

3. You feel that you want to make a change but lack confidence or are afraid for some other reason - so you're looking to lift your spirit

4. You're in love and feel high.

I like Michael Bublé, but the Nina Simone version of this song is much better. And it's one of my personal favourites.

Nina Simone - Feeling Good

Also recommend 'Beautiful Child' by Rufus Wainwright. Won't YouTube link it because I don't like any of the live versions; I prefer the studio recording. A few years ago, that song got me through a really difficult time in my life.

Not sure if this really counts as uplifting, but if i feel that i am in a mood with someone (and it is their fault) then - a small vicotry, by faith no more, seems to help me out
Katrina
RATM reminds me that I'm going to see them in concert on Jan 18th., so yeah that would uplift me personally. Wow, LCD Soundsystem added to the bill? Excellent.
Finn Brothers - There's Nothing Wrong With You

This song always lifts me, as the Finns are apt to do.
At the time it came out, I was going through a not terribly great time and the lyrics struck a particular note.

QUOTE
It's a slow parade
Down a dusty road
We've learned to take abuse
From devils we don't know

People who have lost all heart
Look for someone else to blame
You just keep on walking
When they call you a dirty name

All the mud in this town
All the dirt in this world
None of it sticks on you
(You shake it off)
Cause you're better than that
And you don't need it
There's nothing wrong with you

So this is my "telling the cunts where to fucking shove it" song - the Finns are just more polite, but the ethic is still there.

How come NOBODY can write lyrics these days. All this fucked up babyleft me can't live without you dreamin of you you're the one shite is a pathetic reflection on modern songwriters. What music lover wants the story of your fucked up love life. Keep it to yourself or tell your shrink in rhyming verse.
