Woolly hat found on the bus

Give to "lost and found" or keep it?

A friend of mine found a woolly hat on the bus today. Not worth much but would be great in his winter wardrobe.
Should he bring it to the MVG lost and found, especially as it has a name tag sown in it...

A friend hey?

Not that old chestnut rolleyes.gif

Finders, keepers, I always say. Unless it's cashmere or Burberry or something, it seems unlikely that anyone would check with the lost and found anyway, to see if it was turned in. So "your friend" could turn the hat in, only to have it languish away till some MVG employee nabs it for his own noggin.

And yes, this attitude comes directly from my NOT being a religious person, in case any American religious programming organizations are checking.

If someone took the time to sew a tag in...they probably want it back...

Someone (another parent probably) stole my daughter´s (untagged- I am a bad mother) purple jacket at the Sheraton´s playground in the Algrave last week. I asked at lost and found for three days sad.gif. What do parents think when their child turns up with something that doesn´t belong to them...? This is how I explained it to my daughter last week, why she should make the effort to return things to their rightful owner, even if others don´t- because you HOPE someone will do the same for you.

I have also in the last year lost sunglasses, keys and gloves on public transport and in shops and ALWAYS gone looking for them at various L&F´s. Nothing has sadly ever been handed in... was particulary upset about my sunglasses left in Ludwig Beck changing room for 4 mins.

The guy who owns it probably didn't sew that tag in. His mother did.

BTW, MonksTown, you do know that "Kenneth Cole", "Calvin Klein", and "Massimo Dutti" are probably not guys who need their lost hat back?

Finders keepers my ass. At least try to return the item. www.dastelofonbuch.de can help a lot to find the owner when you have the name and location.

Renia, I'd put your experiences with the sunglasses and the jacket in the category of thefts, though, not things lost.

Only if they wanted it back.

If I had a crap hat as a present then I would sew a tag in saying something along the line of “Property of Monks Town. Care of …http://www.toytowngermany.com/forum/index.php?showtopic= “Oh I hate my crap hat/ use the search function/ seen snow and will be at POE soon so i want it back wink.gif

Yep, the sunglasses was definite theft as I made to the the escalators, realised and headed straight back. Asked all the shopfloor girls and then checked at customer service nearly everyday for the next week.

I'd definitely be more ticked off if my things were stolen than if I'd left something, like a hat, on the bus which was never turned in to the lost and found.

Although in the case of hats and coats, I'd hope they found their way to someone who did really need them and couldn't afford them.

Probably got hair lice in it ... ohmy.gif
