If you are a fan of board and card games then it might be worth your while checking out the Spielwiesn which takes place in the M,O,C, Veranstaltungscenter from friday the 2nd of November until sunday the 4th.

Its a large games fair and a showcase for new games and toys. All the usual favourites are there and most companies have stands where you can get tutorials on how to play and try playing it without having to buy the game.
There are some stands and areas for smaller kids and toddlers but the main focus is on board games.
They have a large selection of games available to borrow and you can easily find a group or person willing to give you a game or even take part in competetions.
Saturday is the Catan night smile.gif For those of you who haven't heard of it, "Die Siedler von Catan" is a very popular and widly considered as one of the best board games ever. It was designed and created here in Germany by Klaus Teuber .
Entry is basically €5 for a day ticket but other rates and specials are available. See here for price options.
Or you can order tickets here.

I'll bump this as my German teacher was telling me it should be a good day out with the kids. From what I read I think it might be better for over 4 years olds though? Anybody going?

Was really nice. Got a chance to play the qualification round of Siedler von Catan...took 4 hours though! Phew...

We went as well, and it was fab.
Not sure when we'll get time to play all the new games we bought, though.

This years 17. Spielwies'n is taking place this weekend (7th - 9th November).

I didn't go last year but I'm tempted this year by the addition of the Creativmesse (www.creativmesse.de), with many 'Workshops & Mitmachaktionen!'

Anyone know if you can pay at the door, or is it online ticket orders only?
Topsy
