Seeing as people start to wonder what happened when other users disappear for a bit, I figured this thread could be rather useful.
I'm going to be away from tomorrow through anything from the 5th to the 20th of November with little Intarwebs access at least until 01 November. The journey starts in Scotchlandia and yes, I plan to discover Edradour Monday morning before I arrive in Oban (home and namesake of an excellent breakfast whiskey). three weeks off of work. Paid. I do love some things about this country.

I never wonder! I certainly don't care or frankly don't even notice when folks disappear. I just welcome not to read some of the obnoxious know-it-all dogmatic rhetoric.
I hope you have a great trip you will be sorely missed.

I am sure many feel the same about you.
Actually some of the people that have slid off of TT, were a good addition, if they weren't, then we wouldn't be missing them.
I will be leaving Oct 23rd til Nov 12th, and will have limited Internet while on my travels. I will check into TT once in a while, as its a great way to keep in touch with friends while gone.
Have a nice trip BD.

Lavender Rain, I notice - and not for the first time - that there seems to be a rather large gulf between the virtues of kindness, gentleness and peace, much extolled in your profile, and your actual posts. At least BadDoggie is upfront and consistent - qualities I, for one, would certainly be more likely to miss than the fake esoteric gushings of certain other users. I suggest you think of this thread as having a double function: useful info for those of us who might start wondering where various posters have gone, and glad tidings for people like you, who can then rejoice in their absence.

Wow let's see how many more advocates we can see for BD. 2 so far.
Safe trip BD and enjoy your friends' supports in the background during your absence.

It's not supposed to be a popularity contest and that certainly wasn't the aim of my post. I simply think it's unnecessary and extremely bad manners to respond to someone telling us they're going away for a while by effectively saying 'good riddance'. And, more to the point, Lavender Rain's posts on this thread are in direct opposition to the attributes she not only promotes but also claims as her own on her profile. I despise that kind of hypocrisy, whoever it happens to be aimed at.

I can't speak for all of TT but I can assure you that at least some people understood your post the way it was meant.

Is it really a good idea to advertise on TT when one“s house will be empty/ possessions up for grabs?

My thoughts exactly.

Perhaps we could list our addresses as well?

I was away for over two weeks and only Jules Winfield noticed I was gone.

(nothing worth nicking from my house anyway)

Maybe this could be moved to the supporters thread at least...

Renia, no one is forcing anyone to post they are away. Anyways, being on holidays isn't the only reason people might not be online. Moving house and having idiots in charge of supplying your broadband connection could be another.

I also noticed it and was relieved to see you return in time to help out on the supermarket thread!
