Hello,
Does anyone know of any English playgroups for toddlers in or around Würzburg? We have joined some great German groups but I would like to meet up with other English native speakers too (my daughter is 17 mths).
Thanks!

Hi Helen, I was just wondering if you are Stephan's wife. It's Julie.

Hi,
I'm moving in the coming months to Germany, haven't decided yet where I will be staying. My heart goes to Heidelberg, safe, pretty but outrageous, or Wurzburg, that is simply a lovely place to live.
I'm creating a mom and child program in English, based on music (all rythms are approached), art and play.
Since I see that you are looking for playgroup for yourself and your little one, do ou think that this project would be well percieved/received ?
Thank you so much for all your suggestions, reccomendations, advises
Cheers

Hi Sandra,
Personally, I would LOVE to join an English-speaking playgroup with song, music, dance etc. I haven't found anything like that here in Würzburg in English. Music groups (German speaking) do seem popular, and I am pretty certain you would get a good response, but I am unsure how much take-up you would get from native speakers. Would you conduct the classes in English?
As an aside on music teaching in Germany, my sister-in-law in Munich teaches Music Together (founded in the US), but she has been quite frustrated that the (all German) parents seem to put the focus more on learning English than the music. The parents seem to want their child to learn fluent English from just one class a week, rather than participating to enjoy the music and singing.
Hope this helps and keep me posted on your plans - we would definitely like to take part if you do move to Wü...
Good luck with your move!
Helen
PS are you a French/English bilingual family? We also speak French and English at home, German with everyone else :)

Hi Helen,
Yes we are a bilingual family LOL, I take care of the French side, while my husband only speaks English to our daughter.
Thank you for your response, I must admit that this is my biggest fear, while moving to Germany. But I remember back while in Munich, and I used to teach english, I did have to deal with the students great impatience.
Music together is one of the programs that we visited together with my daugher, and we enjoyed it immensily. I conduct my classes in english, for both expats and german families. we use all kind of instruments, and go through all rythms, songs, and use them to teach shapes, alphabet, simple words, colours, etc. We also use art and crafts.
I have been conducting those classes since my daughter was 4 monthes, I wanted a job where she would stay with me, and I must say that I have both American and hispanic families during my classes, they are here more for the fun I would say, and to interact with their little ones.
My husband still doesn't know where he will be transfered, it could be wurzburg or any other place. I will let you know.
Thank you again for your response
Take care
Sandra

We moved back from the states to Würzburg in 2006 and I am looking for an english speaking playgroup or get together for my 5 and 2 year old boys. I speak german to them during the day and when my husband comes home in the evening we speak english. I would love for them to have more oppertunities to speak english, though.
Is anybody interrested in starting a playgroup? Now, since all the bases have closed it is really difficult to meet americans here in Würzburg.
I am looking forward to get some responses.

Ok, so I am so glad to see a recent posting on this board. We have recently moved to Wurzburg and I am dying to find a playgroup for my 2 boys, 1 year and almost 3. I would be interested in starting a playgroup and I guess it would be a good idea to do something before it gets cold. Getting around always seems easier when it doesn't include layers and bundling!

Hi there!
I would still love to meet up with other English speakers for a playgroup/playdate. My children are 2 years (little girl) and 2 months (baby boy). Are there any meet-ups already planned? If not, am happy to help organise.

I started to meet up with another family a few weeks ago but have nothing formally organized yet with regular meet ups. We have been meeting up when we can around our schedules. Let me send you a PM to coordinate something. Anyone else just respond here.
