Gutted that Oktoberfest is over

Is anyone else here also sad?

Pages: 1 2
Schotte
I was disappointed to not make it to more days than I did and just caught the tail end, but I'm totally gutted its over! Or i am still hungover and got that hangover guilts feeling.

Anyone else quite sad about it all? This is worse than the day after Boxing Day I reckon.
eurovol
Dude, its just beer, bad music and overcrowded with foreigners. TT is still here though to fill the holes. We got it all except for the bad music.
Darkknight
Its finally over... Now things can return to normal
Uncle Nick
@eurovol: you obviously haven't heard Jason and I singing a duet at karakoe!
eurovol
Yes I have. I was being nice.

PS: I noticed the edit on the "foreigners" part.
Lassie
I'm totally glad it's over. The human body just isn't designed to live off beer, chicken and rollercoasters for two weeks
JerseyBoy
I am glad that the Wies'n is over, actually. Seven times in 14 days was a bit much for me this year.
Topsy
I find it quite refreshing to be able to cycle to the station of a morning without having to steer past piles of puke from the previous evening.
Still, the fest brings plenty of money into the city's coffers, so that's fine by me.
Wouldn't say I'm not glad it's over, though.

Am I sad that the Oktoberfest is over - partially yes, partially no.

I'm sad that I won't have the opportunity to banter with random, smiling i.e. drunken, international and sometimes good looking strangers.

Not sad to give my liver the opportunity to recover, and as Topsy mentioned, having to avoid the piles of vomit on my way to work. Also, I'm sick of wearing a dirndl - it was cold!
hams

Nothing to tell unfortunately.

ADMINHIDE-->However, lessons I've learnt at this Oktoberfest: next time I'll be clever and buy tights (pantyhose for you N. Americans) instead of pop socks mistakenly; and instead of making plans for a vague rendezvous, will exchange actual phone numbers.
Uncle Nick
@hams: don't try making a phone call when you're in the tent though because you can't hear a bloody thing!
hams
Well, I was hoping it would be an intertesting Wies'n but actually it was completely uneventful, more's the pity.
Never thought I'd be one to succumb to a 'missed connection'.

Uncle Nick - I find sms works so much better.
mrwilson
First Wies'n for me and it was a blast.

Went there, I think, 10 times. Drank approx 50-60 liters of beer.

A lot of bloody hot chicks though. Love them Italian women. Though the men can go jump off a cliff.
sarabyrd
Yes, I am glad the Wiesn is over, I was having frigging nightmares up through the last day.
Renia
Heeeyyy Baaaaby! Ooh Ah! (I too have been present when Uncle Nick has sang )

Actual bad dreams Sarabyrd? or just bad experiences?
sarabyrd
Fükking honest to godness nightmares that I had not paid for the vouchers or not forwarded them or not sent out the invitations. Last night was the first good sleep in weeks, including after the office do where I let my hair down after the bosses had left. Really, I am glad it's over but gutted that I will not have the Wildmoser experience until next year.
Jeeves
I miss the Oktoberfest too, particularly at lunchtimes. Needed a quick mass or two today and popped along anyway just in case, but they seem to have sold out of beer or summat. Sigh.
eurobabs
I miss wearing the dirndl
Matt T
Things I hate about the Wiesn:
- The way the U-bahn station is never where you think you left it. (And what's the Riesenrad doing over there?)
- Standing outside a side-entrance to a tent for an hour waiting to get in.
- Being charming and/or cool to a security guard for an hour (see above), until he decides you can come in. By the time I get inside I'm all out of cool and charm.
stanford
I will not miss it, as as every year, I did not go once. I went once for 2 hours over three years ago and that was enough to see it is not my thang... Good bye and Good riddance I say...

Stanford the kill joy.
Oh and those dindril whatever they called are just as crappy not my thang either - here is one guy who is more about booty...
Punchbear
For those who've heard it, you know what I'm talking about!!!

He should get a night onstage in the Hacker tent next year, singing highlights of his set. Because it's Top 5 Funniest Things I've Ever Seen. The world really needs to experience it.
RebellionLies
The Wies'n is great but it's a relief to get back to some form of normality.
Schotte
I've just had a walk through the Oktoberfest site, grim and depressing. Thought I saw lots of other souvenir hunters but they might have been security. Sadly no loot lying around

Never mind. Less than 48 weeks to go.
Kay
That's the spirit!
Schotte
Bleurgh. Knew I had felt like this before and got it all again
I love that place, its so...random!

When is there a better excuse to run through the fountain at Stachus in the middle of the night????
Showem
But it's not over. There's tomorrow still...
Gen
Who needs an excuse anyway?
giulietta
Not so sad, but being new to Munich, that may be because I was previously not used to drunken belligerent guys accosting me on the S bahn at night. Being a fairly small girl, this was pretty terrifying.
Carm
I am not sorry, will not look at crowds the same ever!
sarabyrd
I will donate a new glass animal to my livingroom buddha in gratitude for another Fest without complaints from clients or tents. Tomorrow brings the work do, and while the parting ceremony is very touching in the Armbrustschützenzelt I have to remain relatively sober as I don't have Monday off.
sweetsilence
We are living just around the corner from Goetheplatz UBahn station...no more drunks coming back to the hotel opposite of our house, no Heeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyy Laaaaaaady! in the UBahn anymore, seats on the way home from work...part of me is sad, part of me likes her sleep at night ;-)
camlough
Strangely enough, I'm feeling a bit nostalgic now, having just come home from the Hofbrauzelt, where I've had the first Shandy that I actually enjoyed...must be their beer.

I don't want to pack up my lovely Dirndl!! I loved wearing it.
Gen
Nach dem Fest ist vor dem Fest. Time to get your dirndls cleaned before the Auer Dult in a couple weeks, all manner of Xmas dos, then a bit of a break until Starkbierfest in late February, then there's the Maibaum, and all summer random Volksfeste and Waldfest all over until we get to the Main Fest again. There's more too besides the list off the top of my head here...
Pas
We should do a TTT once a month where all the women where their Dirndls. That should keep everybody happy and you seem to be able to get free drinks if you wear a dirndl in a bar when nobody else is.
Gen
There've been group trips to the Hofbräuhaus, but not often enough really.
adrianlondon
You've got a week left to get to the Canntatter Volksfest.
DDBug
aww - I only went a few times (ok, four not counting with the kids) and despite the crowds I found it to be a rather mellow year. Fun but not extremely adventurous. I've actually been looking forward to the glühwein stands instead this year.
MonksTown
You've got five minutes to get your arse down there.

Aber, kemmt scho' wieda'.
DDBug
no, I just got back from down there!
MonksTown
Were you the guy with the hairy chest in the gents?

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=POv-3yIPSWc&...feature=related
bluedave
Only went once this year, not really bothered to be honest.
Gen
Goddamn MT, my head was fine till I clicked on your video links there. Push pineapple shake the tree.
DDBug
Me? the Hairy Guy? Oh come on!

Disclaimer - I have not yet clicked the link
MonksTown
TOP night out though innit!

And I only went down there to spend my last vouchers...<famous last Wies'n words>...
Punchbear
First year that I went in Tracht with a lady in Tracht. I didn't feel half as stupid in stupid trousers as I thought I'd feel.

I insulted Roberto Blancos integrity and nearly left in Trachtion.
MonksTown
Roberto Blancos

integrity

Excuse me while I get a maß of prosecco sweetie!
MonksTown
How many Maß you rob? I think I got three innit.
Panama
Just back from there and really glad is over.

Now let's wait for all those lost connection threads that usually follow oktoberfest.
MonksTown
@ Panama

[s]There was this really HOT bloke from Manchester I puked on[/s] but it was a dodgy pint in a local bar innit and doesn't count really.
Katrina
By the time I get inside I'm all out of cool and charm.

Thankfully, 2008 was not 2007.
