Best and worst of Oktoberfest

Your experiences at the Wiesn

So yes its Monday and the Wies'n is over. What was one of your best and worst moments of the Oktoberfest this year? (Or just plain funny?)

BEST: Last night when everyone had sparklers out for the last songs from the band. Everyone had a smile on their face.

WORST: Waiting eons to get into a tent only to find out it wasn't even worth it.

JUST PLAIN FUNNY: Finding a Käfer sugar packet in my pocket this morning someone gave to me one night to smack someone in the head with it for being silly (how sweet)...

So what are your Wies'n moments?

Talking about eON (thanks for the reminder Oma), anyone working at their offices on the Brienner Str. know a guy called Stefan who looks like Jens Lehmann? My missed Oktoberfest connection. That together with a mix up between Starbucks and San Francisco Coffee Company!!!
Keydeck
Had a great Oktoberfest but as usual am very glad that it's over. I don't think I'd have survived another week of it. Best part for me was doing things a little differently than before. The 320 seater Wildmoser, the box at Fischer Vroni, the balcony at Augustiner, excellent stuff.

Here's a few random photos in the gallery.

Now that I have time:

BEST:

Work do at the Weinzelt. Great place and very pleasantly surprised. Especially the chamagne spray with all the umbrellas going up...
Girls Sunday at Schottenhammel - thanks Renia and planetmoni for organising the reservation.
Hofbrau - can't believe the guards fell for our story!

JUST PLAIN FUNNY:

Oma being bought vast quantities of roses by an Italian in love...

WORST:

Schutzenfestzelt - Not worth the three hour wait. Well done Oma for queuing, shame it wasn't worth it.

The was by far the best Weis'n for me!! But I'm with Keydeck on this one: I'm glad it's over.

It's really hard to put a finger on particular events - especially the negative ones - when you've had such a good time, but I'll try.

BEST: Meeting up at the Bräurosl at 8am with fellow TT-ers on 03.10, including a few who I'd never met before, and spending the entire day and a good part of the evening.

WORST: Trying to work the following day.

JUST PLAIN FUNNY: Being at the Ochsenbraterei on Friday 05.10 with my friend Johnny from Dublin, and meeting a couple of other Irish dressed as Leprechauns.
Moonboot
BEST: 2 Festal virgins over from England for their first trip to Germany ever and being astonished how fantastic it was at the Fest and how beautiful Munich city centre is.
WORST: the hangover-from-Hell I had after my first trip to the Weis'n on the 1st Sunday...(I was on antibiotics so it was my own fault really)
Oma Stelzbok
I'm also happy the Wies'n is over. Seriously doubt I could handle another week of it! Plus my liver will have a chance to go on detox (till next weekend of course).

GOOD: I managed to have a great time without drinking more than 4 Mass a day and without feeling bad on the mornings after.
NOT SO GOOD: I lost one jacket and got a big cigarette hole burnt into another
FUNNY: Friday's girl. Maybe I should stay away from alcohol altogether
Allershausen
If you lost your jacket at the fest, as opposed to on the way home, go to the lost property office, (Fundbüro). It is amazing what gets handed in and going into the bit that has the coats in, is like walking into a shop!

Good bit: When a local asked me if this was my first Oktoberfest and I told her: "No, it's my 22nd!" Her face was a picture!

Bad bit: Not being able to get into any tents on the Tuesday, not even the Hofbräu! Massive queues to get in, I've never seen it that bad except when it was raining, which it wasn't!

Best bit: Fabulous weather!

Same as everyone else - had a GREAT time, but am happy it is finished for another year!

BEST - Bräurosl on the holiday Wednesday. We got there WAY too early and it started out quite slow (until the 2nd band came on around 2) but the day ended up rockin!

Also the girls day in the Schottenhamel (as Hams said - thanks Moni and Renia) and also Wildmoser too.

WORST - The pain I caused myself from an intake of way way way too much gluten! But it was all well worth it and am glad it only comes once a year!

FUNNIEST - being able to act completely silly and out of character for 2 weeks and not have it be held against me
Renia
BEST- Going for eight nights- mostly to reserved tables. Blagging our way into the closed Hofbrau tent at 7pm last Saturday night with some unused Hofbrau armbands from Thursday night (sob story about a missed flight)- only thing was we were horribly sober when we got in..., meeting new people, Wildmoser tent was a lovely surprise and just so many many things.

WORST- Cigarette hole burnt in an apron and a coat. The rain which dampened some of the fun for some friends from the UK during the end of the first week. Finding out that after three Mass I am struggling, and if I add a cocktail to that I am in pain.

Best bit: All my reservations worked out fine.

Worst bit: Organizing them.

Funniest bit: Receiving an unexpected SMS last night at the office do - my cell phone lives in my bodice at the Wiesn.
Eleanor Rigby
My worst experience this year was so awful I dare not write about it on a public forum.

But other than the one horrible experience the rest of the Wiesn was great fun.

(from one of the cash desks late last night)

Best Experience - Fischer Vroni on the last sunday. 12 hours in the tent. Oh dear.

Worst Experience - Bitchy waitress on the opening Sunday.

Funny Bit - Friends doing silly dances, and sticking clips of them on Youtube (sorry been threatened with death if I share!!!)
Keydeck
If I learned anything from Oktoberfest it's that these are Moomins...

...and this is not...

Thanks for the heads up Poots.
