Hi Ladies and Gents,

Hope one or more of you may have experience of this...My 17 year old wishes to apply for a driving licence... I must therefore accompany her to the "official application place" however I am unsure as to what documents I actually require as the "responsible person"! Passport, registration papers and a copy of my licence but, as I actually hold a UK driving licence, a have been told that a copy if this licence by itself is not enough...I need some kind of paperwork from the DVLA confirming issue data??? Cant seem to quite understand what exactly they want...Any ideas, help much appreciated.

Also...can you convert a Uk licence to a german licence after being here a few years as I think that may be an easier option? Thanks again!

Hi I took 16 year old son to apply for his licence, don't recall needing papers for me, they certainly didn't look at my UK driver's licence, why would they? We did have to fill out a Begelites Fahren ab 17 which did need details of our licences as named accompanying drivers until his 18th b'day. On his application form (Ausbildungsvertrag) we had details from his birthcertificate or Passport but I can't remember if we took these with us. If in doubt, take all documentation. You don't need to worry about having a UK licence, we had no problems, but as I said we filled that form ourselves and signed it, I don't think anyone had to see our licences.
Take LOTS of money wink.gif
