Hotels outside of Munich during Oktoberfest

Advice on finding accommodation in nearby towns

The Sun King
Hi there,

I'm spontaneously heading to Oktoberfest for some good healthy hedonism and need to plan...fast

I realise all the central hotels will be booked up (or insanely overpriced), so what I was thinking of doing was finding a place with a good rail connection just outside the city- a suburb perhaps that is not too distant. I'm driving to Munich from Cologne and would like to find a comfortable 3 or 4 star hotel where I can park my car, jump on a train and get to where the tents are with minimum hassle.

Can anyone recommend an area I should focus on for my hotel search?

Thanks!

I put people up at the ... yes ... Killer Gasthof - good place, recommended

About 5 km from Grünwald and the tram station, or in Grunwald search for hotels - the Alter Wirt is quite good (small but clean rooms)

Or, if you don't want to drive - Alter Wirt is a better choice with the tram.

In the heart of Munich and still not dirtily expensive and 10 mins to the Wiesn by U Bahn @ 125 Euros per night http://www.accorhotels.com/accorhotels/fic...che_hotel.shtml

FYI available thru this weekend...bookmearly

Hi All,

Can someone recommend a good place to look for a hotel outside of central Munich; i.e., perhaps a suburb or outer district where the prices and availability will be more sane? Thanks to the good ole DeutscheBahn I really don't mind if it's 30 - 45 minutes outside of the city (as long as the train connections are good) as I'm just coming to experience a few days of Oktoberfest.

Thanks!

Landshut still has rooms available.

Trip Advisor is a good place for info (including customer reviews) on different hotels.

You might also get some last minute deals at RatesToGo and LastMinute.com

Was also about to suggest Landshut; beautiful town, 45 minutes from Munich with a Bayern Ticket.

I reserved a room last week in Ismaning, at the Zur Post. A single is 110 and a double 130 a night. Including breakfast, do google search and book online.
and you can use the S8 to get to the fest and back.

Look for the cheap hotel links on the search function - still stuff available and not all rude prices.

Excellent, thanks so much for these prompt and helpful responses. By the way I'm going the weekend of the 3rd, not this weekend. I'll look into the options you mentioned (I assume they all have good train coverage with a decent schedule).

Thanks again, now I can surely terrorise the festival for a second time : )

Try Hotel Leopold, Leopold strasse, central location, we just cancelled 2 single rooms for a total of a week from the 30th onwards as our guests will now be staying elsewhere, €79 per night
