Travel tips for Vilnius, Lithuania

Whoops, meant Lithuania ..cant change title now..

I have wanted to visit the Baltics for a while now. I'm interested to hear opinions about visiting the city Vilnius for about 4 days. Interesting? Snoozeville? Charming?
Any "must see" tips would be great and hotel recs. Thanks

its a pretty place, we spent 2 days there a few years ago. Avoid the hostel, they messed up our reservation.

There are some really nice restaurants in the city center, that have good Lithuanian food and prices were reasonable.

The KGB museum was interesting, kind of sent chills up my spine. Also some pretty churches there too. And the Castle up the hill is worth the hike up for the view.

If you're going to Vilnius maybe you should know that it's the capital of Lithuania.

I would reccommend going. It's not a huge place, but it's nice place for a weekend visit.

It was great place 100 metres from the main street.

I also reccommend a day trip out to Trakai Castle

yes, I was hoping to find a city that was manageable in 3-4 days and not too hectic. I will check out the accommodation link. Which airline did you use?

I took a bus from Riga, did 13 days of backpacking thru the Baltic states.

Lonely planet guides are great, you can also check them out online.

Check out In Your Pocket, they are the best guides to Eastern European cities. When you arrive, buy a copy at the newspaper shop, should cost around 3 Euro. It has a map, accommodation, nightlife, eating and listings on the notable sights there.

If I were going there, I'd think about going to the Curonian Spit (Kursiu Nerija National park).

The Frank Zappa monument is hilarious. In my hometown there is a giant mural of his head about one block from my mom's house. Maybe a Lithuanian did it?
