Hacker Pschorr Bräu after-wies'n party

Bavaria Bräu did it better in 2006

I was incredibly disappointed when I went to the former Bavaria Bräu/current Hacker Pschorr Bräu after-wies'n party.

I remember having so much fun last year in Bavaria Bräu...it was such a great place to stumble to, and the Wies'n-like party atmosphere continued inside. Dancing on benches, music, etc. Now it is more like a club atmosphere. DJs mixing house music, selective entry, disco balls with lights flashing along to the techno music...the only thing being that the club attendees are in trachten.

If you are fortunate enough to be let in, you have to pay a €10 cover charge, as opposed to last year's €5. Plus there is no direct route in- now there is a cattlerail type queue that is completely covered with signs over the front of it, worse than in an amusement park where you can actually see outside of the queue.. I watched half the people in the 30 minute long queue get thrown out of it. (Edit: it is important to add that once I got inside, it was not very crowded! Why exactly they are being so selective is beyond me.)

Overall, having been to both, I definitely prefer the party the way Bavaria Bräu did it. It was a fun, relaxed atmosphere with the beer flowing. The current venue is uptight, has crap music and is far too "schicky" now. Definitely not worth the €10!

I agree - the place this year is a joke. We were sat inside yesterday at 7.30 for a quiet beer and then at 9:30 physically ejected by the bouncers for not having paid our ten euro entry (even though they had just served us a beer)
There seems to be a much more fun after wiesn party behind the Bavaria statue - they have a hall turned into a beer tent with a live band.
