The Horse Whisperer

And its application to children

right then,

Many years ago I was enthralled by a documentary about a man who talked to horses and tamed them without that inhumane method of breaking their will. This was before I had kids. What was fascinating was that he could apply these tecvhniques to unruly children.

I shall never forget the moment he faced a hoirse and the first thing he did when it looked at him was to turn away but keep his ground. Eventually the horse came to him. Took time but it worked. T
his I often apply when near for example dogs. If they are standing p
roud I simply turn my back on them. Same with lots of animals. The
animals become calmer.

We live in a very "horsey" area so it never fails to remind me of this phenomenon and al
so the book which I read. Funnily enough havent seen the Redford film
.

Has anyone experience of this non confrontational approach to child re
aring based on the Horse Whisperer thing?

Have you just copied that off something? Just curious as the lines all out etc. smile.gif

Have you tried talking to horses yourself? I've given it some thought but can't fathom it.

Mariposa: wouldnt call myself drunk just a tad tipsy yet not bugger me I am pissed. No I wasnt when I wrote it.

Since then I have since sank some of last years Feuerzangebowle so if you asked me now then yes I am feeling a biut fuzzy. Wasn't satisfied with the taste so am this year after it is all finished am going to attempt home made mulled wine. I have a recipe from Farmhouse Kitchen Cookbook.

MP do you have a German gluhwein recipe?

mods delete this post and keep the discussion on track. It was at the time sensible but since I returned its going downhill.
Mariposa
No, my Glühwein recipe is:
1. Wait for December.
2. Go to Christmas Market.
3. Buy Glühwein.

Alternatively you may replace step #2 with Go to grocery store.

I have gotten some good advice on handling babies and toddlers from a book called The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems, if that helps.
