Hi,

I am from New Delhi, India and I am planning to work in Germany.
After reading other discussions on this website I am really amazed and I am sure that I can expect a lot of help in becoming one of you and joining you in Germany.

Few things that I would like to share with you for helping you in knowing me better are:
  • I am a boy aged 21
  • I have work experience of more than 3 years in software development and project management in Internet industry
  • I have worked on technologies like Ruby on Rails, PERL, Mason, Java Script, PHP, XML, VC++, C++
  • I am currently working under a mixed profile of software engineer and project manager, I would prefer a similar profile
  • I have my schooling with commerce background
  • I don't have any formal graduation degree
  • I am a Certified Scrum Master
  • I am good at creative writing and photography as well
  • I have already started learning basics of German and can communicate very well in English
  • I already know few people personally in Munich, Germany

Now I am specifying things on which I am seeking some guidance. I would highly appreciate if you can share your knowledge and experience with me on any one of them or more.
  • What is the usual pay scale for some one with a skill set like mine?
  • What would be approximately required money to lead a comfortable life (not luxurious but with basics)?
  • What are the things an employer usually provide like an apartment, car etc?
  • Is it required to hold a graduation degree for getting a job or it can be covered by equal work experience?
  • Can you please tell me a few places that are close to Munich where I might find a job as I want to stay close to Munich?

I am really thankful to you for taking out your precious time and tying to help me.

Bye for now

How to take up a job in Germany ... Visa requirements

eddy,

i suppose you know this already but if you ever come to germany get ready for a bit of a culture shock: naked women can be found on the front page of the top-selling newspaper and in many advertisements.

reason I point this out is your blog post from Sept. 28 - the undie advert is beautiful, but in Germany would be considered much less than racy.

Hi Hamburg,

That article was based on what was visible with that situation.
As far as I am concerned, when I will be there I might write a post with surprise telling that there was NO naked woman on the front page.

I appreciate your warning about cultural shock but Indians are not so unaware of such things wink.gif

Thanks a lot for your reply

I really wish you luck in your pursuit of a life in Germany. You might want to check out The Xenophobe's Guide to the Germans for a little tongue-in-cheek look at the place. There's a little gem under the work / employment section, something about their not being willing to touch you with a bargepole unless you have your qualifications. Even if you know your stuff, they need to see pieces of paper suitable for framing. So make sure you graduate first!

Thanks a lot for your wishes. I will soon try to buy that guide you suggested I am sure it will be of great help. It is quite disappointing that its hard to get a job without degree as you say, but lets what others have to comment before I make up my mind rolleyes.gif

I believe more than 3 years of experience and Scrum certification must be of some value !!
