Ok, tis late and I know the thread's been posted about where to get hold of Dirndls in the run up to Wiesn, but how about once it's started? Tis my first Oktoberfest and had the best time there this weekend, so want to really get into the spirit of things by nabbing me one of those bad boys
Are they gonna be reduced by now or twice the price? want to keep it cheap.. (the price, not the look! tongue.gif ) Will there be any left or just really naffy ones that no-one wants?
marka
I think Hertie might have started reducing their prices.

I also recently noticed a shop that had pretty cheap prices (think they had a sale on). It was on the corner of Ledererstr. and Hochbrückenstr, which is about halfway down Tal as you walk away from Marienplatz, right by the San francisco Coffee Company.
potterstreet
kleidermarket on tal has a bunch of cheap, used stuff.

Nilpferd,

Was at Hertie on Saturday - very expensive 300€ + and that's only for the dress(not the accessories - blouse, apron, shoes, etc). I didn't find anything I like anywhere except at Anglemaier which was even more expensive. Kaufhof had lots of stuff but by now, it's probably all gone. I'm looking too because my other one doesn't fit me at the moment(it's too small -waaahhhh). I'm going to Loden Frey Outlet tonight - probably nothing left there either.

Here's the list of places I looked:
Hertie,
Kaufhof
Kardstadt
Pats(second hand - yuck)
the other one across the street, mentioned in previous posts - more yuck unless you are a size 36
Loden Frey Outlet
Moser(on corner of Frankfurter Ring/Ingolstadterstrasse)
Also, one in Bogenhausen called Trachten Redl - website www.trachten-redl.de
There's also a small shot behind the McDonalds that is across from the Olympia Einskaufszentrum - some possibilites.

now i think of it, Trachten Redl was also recommended to be by a münchner colleague. He said you can get very reasonable stuff there and not you touristy stuff that every one wears.

"more yuck unless you are a size 36"

will stay away from there then...not a size 36 unfortunately, but not really a nilpferd as the name suggests!! tongue.gif

Thanks for the help you guys, fountain of knowledge this site!

There's a Trachten Redl near where I live - it's more like a US-style factory outlet. Their prices seem good and it's VERY popular with the local Bavarian chaps and chapesses... See http://www.trachten-redl.de/

They seem to have Dirndl up to size 52 (that sounds laaarge!) from €119...

If you are a size 40/42 I can make you a good deal on a pretty Dirdl...

angermaier angermaier angermaier!!! People think it is outrageously expensive, but I got mine, dress, blouse, and apron all together, for a reasonable price. The quality is awesome and the sales people very friendly.

I finally solved my problem with my dirndl - I took it to a seamstress who will alter it by Saturday for only 12€ - much better than 300€ for a new(lower quality) dirndl. I went to Angermaier - everything I liked was over 400€ - couldn't justify it - especially when we're saving money for a house(or rather, land, to build a house on). Phew!

@ showem: that one is really pretty...am looking for a size 38, but could always have a try. my problem is that I don't have much erm..."up top" shall we say!
tried on a few last night without much luck and am now traumatised at how much they made me look like my gran!! ohmy.gif
might have to rethink this one...
kitkat64
Nilpferd - no worries about having 'nothing up top' - it just matters that it is tight(and looks like 'they're' being held back). And go to Loden Frey Outlet. I was there yesterday. They have a few less expensive ones that were very cute and lots of 38s.

presentation is everything, even for ladies that have "viel Holz vor die Hütte"
ashu
I must say...nothing hotter than a frau in a drindl.. rolleyes.gif
