I've been to Nektar a couple of times before but Ive never eaten there. I notice that the prices arent listed on the menu and I was wondering, would anyone know how much it is to eat there; average for a main course say?

Dunno about the prices but not cheap! Portions are tiny! They have weird creations for dishes, but although I couldn't tell what it tasted like I couldn't say it was bad, just a bit strange. But it is fun to eat while you're lying down. Fantastic mojitos too!

sorry cant help with your real question. we had the placed booked out for a company function - weird small portions, but thought it tasted great. good house wine too

OK I have been here and the reason there are no prices for the main courses is because, wait for it...

They only do two set meals, one veggie and one not. I belive the total price of the meal is €40, for which you get a small appetiser, starter, main and dessert.

The price and the meals may have changed since I went in early 2003 though.

Has anyone been to Nektar recently?

Just wondering if they would take reservations for 8 for a Saturday night, and also how much the meal is these days.

Danke!

If you don’t reservation you probably won’t be able to get in (the restaurant that is), You can make a reservation for the whole place if you wish.

45Euro a head

we´ve started hanging out here...it´s quite retroey...the music´s funky...but the best thing is two of the rooms don´t have chairs and tables...they have beds! it´s so cosy! you really can ´lounge´. there´s a Brazilian DJ on at the weekend who dresses up a bit and sings...you´ll love it! biggrin.gif

We were at Nektar last night for dinnner. It was pretty lame. The food was forgetable, lamb with mashed potatoes that had fish added was not our taste. But the disappointing thing was to have to sit between people to the left and right that were constantly smoking. They don't have a non-smoking area, so as a non-smoker it is difficult to enjoy the time there.

And ... the service was bad. We expected good service, the place is not on the cheap end (around EUR 70 a person with drinks). The waiters use preferred language like "I told you so" and why didn"t you ..." when I asked for a different appetizer. I was unaware that the fish was not cooked and I asked for an alternative.

Well, to sum it up ... Not worth it ...

My boyfriend treated me to Valentines Day dinner here two weeks ago. We were very pleased with the whole event (food, service, performance). Menu was around 45 euros without drink, and was actually almost five courses (appetizer, starter, soup, main, dessert). The only thing we didn't enjoy very much was how late it all took place. It was a tuesday evening, first course came at around nine, main at eleven thirty. Most people left immediately after the dessert... Overall a very nice and different dinner, but better suited for a saturday evening.

OK, you've seriously got my attention. Can you elaborate on that dish atall? I'm genuinely seriously interested. My mind is racing about trying to marry flavours in my mind, and imagine what it could have been that you were eating. This restaurant obviously goes for matching seemingly odd flavours, so I'd love to hear more.

Been there several times as its just round the corner... only ever had great service and nice food. The only downside was that they didn't know what a bloody Mary was!

We had an excellent meal here on Saturday.
Quite possibly the best I've had in Munich.
Service was friendly and my boyfriend particularly enjoyed the long-legged waitress in a micro-miniskirt.
Ventilation was also good so that although the couple lounging next to us were smoking, we barely noticed.
The entertainment wasn't as interesting as I had expected but considering that it is included in the price I don't think you can expect much more.
The place seems to attract a more pretentious crowd but it kind of fits in with the scenery and adds to the somewhat surreal atmosphere of the place.

Highly recommended.

I reserved the whole place once for a former boss's son's birthday and received a fax saying "Unser Somalier wird sich um die Weinauswahl kümmern". Made me laugh.

That made me laugh too. Glad you found a place to post that anecdote!

Hello, everyone,

I've read about this lounge bar (I'm not sure what it's categorised (restaurant? cafe?) under, really) on TT like a month ago. And I've forgotten what its name is. It looks really cool. Someone who's been there had written about how there are many huge white sofas for guests to sit on. And he/she also mentioned that the guests there sometimes just half sit/ lie on the sofas. It looks really relaxing and I was really thinking of going. However I just forgot to write the info down and I spent lotsa time searching for it on TT but had no luck. I really hope that someone could recognize which lounge bar I'm talking about and kindly give me some info about it. Thanx a lot.

Easy, Nektar.

It's a twenty-something to thirty-something design bar. Its one of my favourite bars but the dance floor is too small.

Just got back from an art event there tonight and yeah, location is hot. Food is awesome, loved the fusion of flavors for the dishes we were served. I think I tried that potato and chicken dish but I did not remember any hint of fish in the potatoes. Overall good times, good music, good drinks (hiccup) and good convo. Excellent for events and the like. cool.gif

PS: And I have to agree very schiki micki!
