So I'm heading to Bath in a few weeks with some girls for a weekend away. We have plans for the days, but Saturday night is open. Does anyone know Bath well enough to recommend some good places for food, drink, dancing and general shenanigans?

Hiya,

spent pretty much the last 3 years working just outside of Bath and living in hotels there. What sort of food do you like?

There's a fab little place called the Bathtub which does homemade fusion food, or a good fish restaurant called Fishworks,. If you like veggie food, demuths is a must, but you have to book as it is not very big. Lots and lots of choice though. If you like send me a pm and I'll try and help further...

Unless you like big pubs with drunken people trying to pick each other up, I'd give the Huntsman a miss.

The Rummer is a nice small pub with lots of character as is the Porter (a personal fave of mine) delicious veggie food (large portions too!), good drinks and friendly, with live music as well...

Have fun :-)

Thanks Spacecadet. Anyone else have any tips?
Small Town Boy
My knowledge of the Bath nightlife is limited to the numerous traditional pubs with a good selection of beer. Not sure if this is really what a group of girls is looking for, but if not maybe it will be of interest to someone else.

The Salamander (3 John St.) is a vaguely trendy, busy place that serves the full range of Bath Ales' beers; they also have a restaurant upstairs. The Pig & Fiddle (2 Saracen St.) is busy but has a good selection of local beers. If you want a REALLY traditional pub, where the Bass is served from a jug, head to the Star Inn.

Reccommend Bath Ales pubs, some REALLY good beer! cool.gif

I go out more in Bristol and then to dodgy venues mostly. ph34r.gif

Nightlife in Bath – most info from a DJ posting on a student website. All the Clubs have websites but I am crap at adding links.

For a quick summary Po Na Na and Delfter Krug are probably the busiest clubs.

Po Na Na
Po's is probably the best in Bath. It is located in a cellar about 3 or 4 minutes from the town center. The capacity is 350 and there is a main dancefloor, and 2 bars, and also a VIP room. There is sometimes a second room of chilled music in the seating area. Monday to Thursday there are drinks offers, but Friday and Saturday everything is full price, so expect it to be more expensive. Its a Moroccan themed chain of clubs. Saturday - Reload
Graham S (Baths finest DJ) delivers a breath-taking night starting off with hip hop/funk/party tunes and works up into house, breaks and electro. Whilst keeping it accessible to most people.

Delfter Krug

Bath's only above ground club! Capacity about 300. There is a bar downstairs that serves food during the day to the beer garden outside. In the evening they open the upstairs which is basically the dancefloor (all seating is downstairs). Sometimes they have a separate DJ downstairs. It’s in the town centre. Saturday – Shakedown The largest night of the week...the warm up DJ plays commercial Hip Hop followed by commercial house from 12 - 3.

Moles

Definitely the most exciting venue, even though it is small, probably around 200 capacity. I dont know much about what nights then do, but I do know that they have had names like Annie Mac come to play. They mostly have live bands and the last friday of the month is a new rave/ indie dance thing, which is meant to be quite popular. At the top of the town center near Revolution and Slug & Lettuce. Again it is underground.

The Bridge

The bridge is a new club just opened last month. The new owners have spent £50k on renovating the place and are making a new entrance for it (the old one was in a horrible back alley). They are aiming to be the best club in town and will definitely be the swankiest! The new capacity will be about 450, and it’s about 5-10min walk from the centre.

Blue Rooms
Definitely Baths most exclusive club. Although things are changing! It used to be over 21s and you had to be a member, but it has opened its doors to over 18s and also non members. On a Friday and Saturday you should still expect to pay £10 to get in. As you go in there is a huge seating area with a bar, all the seats are leather and the carpet is a lovely plush blue colour! Downstairs is the dancefloor with another bar. The capacity is 300 and its at the top of the town centre, on the same road as Revolution, Wagamama and Moles.

Qube

Qube was opened about 3 years ago I think and seems to do pretty well for itself. It is very similar to Po Na Na in that is in the same kind of basement underground, but with a different layout. There is a main dancefloor, with a couple more rooms with a bar. Then up a flight of stairs is the cocktail bar and lounge area, which sometimes has a DJ in. It’s about 3-4 min out of the centre and capacity of around 300.

Hmmm...do you also want to get laid?

Haha, good question. In a word, no. But if you have tips on places to pull, feel free to add them for others who might be in need.
