Hi...

Buying dvd's all the time is getting pretty expensive (also not good if the film turns out to be bad) so does anyone know of any dvd rental places in Bonn?

Thanks for your help.
Debbie
Hi Charley,

The place we use is over the river in Oberdollendorf although a friend of mine has always rented them from the public libraries in Bad Godesberg and Bonn. She is quite a movie addict and does not speak that much German so I am guessing they have loads. Whereabouts do you live? Perhaps we could find one in the Gelbeseiten.

Debbie

PS The English faculty at the University have a film club - used to be on Tuesdays and I am pretty sure it is not exclusive to students/teachers.

Have a look at this link. The German word for a DVD rental shop is Videothek. The Bonn public library also has a collection of DVDs. To join a Videothek or the library you probably need your Anmeldungschein and some form of Photo id.

Hi again,

I can't think of a Videothek near to the City Centre but the link Rebecca sent should help - perhaps around Popplesdorf or in the Altstadt. If you are living near the City Centre, the public library is over the road from the main train station, behind Karstadt and next to C&A.

If you can get there, Kinopolis in Bad Godesberg (the S-Bahn goes there) has two English films per week although I noticed this week - only one performance of each. I think Knocked Up is on tonight. I believe that there are more regular performances at a cinema in Cologne. Perhaps someone else could help here?. Not sure about how much that would cost you though.

I know that the English Shop in Cologne has a DVD rental service - not sure often you can get there though and it worth it only if you have some sort of jobticket.
