An American tourist was severly injured in an altercation at Schwanthalerstrasse/Bavariaring on Sunday morning (23 September, app. 1am). He had witnessed two men fighting, one of them left the scene, the other turned on the tourist and almost pushed him over. The tourist and the attacker were involved in a verbal argument when a person who had been behind the tourist suddenly hit him on the head with a Maßkrug. The tourist lost his communicator HTC 8150 which was immediately picked up and pocketed by a passer-by. The culprits then continued towards Landwehrstrasse and could not be located in spite of an intensive search of the surrounding area.
The American suffered a 10 cm long laceration deep enough to nick his skull on his left temple, severe cuts on and behind his left ear and a severed facial artery resulting in 1 liter loss of blood. He was never critical and is out of danger.
