Did I imagine it or did I see a few months a go that a GERMAN crisp company had brought out salt and vinegar (as well as cheese and onion) ?
I think it must have been in a biggish posh-ish supermarket as opposed to my local
Penny!
Need to get some "proper" flavoured crisps by tomorrow so any suggestions welcomed.
(Not to go to a "expat" shop and pay € 2 for Walkers though)
Cheers

Tengelmann sell salt n vinegar crisps in big bags, just pop in there. I forget the brand but they are with the other crisps so you shouldnt have any probs finding them.
Happy munchin'!

I bought some S&V crips from
HIT a couple of months back. Can't remember the brand, but it was German. They were nothing special, not nearly as tangy as the real thing. Better than all that "paprika" stuff though.

Man, I am a right old do-as-you-likey. I get normal old salted crips, and give 'em a good lashing of Sarsons, then eat 'em soggy. Gross maybe, but I cannot help it.

Yes - tengelman DO sell them - but only in the Jee-normous packets.
(i.e. not the 30g packets you might be used to)
Tip of the day: pour some into a bowl in the kitchen, then walk
away leaving the packet behind you. Otherwise you'll end up
scoffing the whole packet!
Certainly not as tangy as I'd like - but they serve the purpose.

The Subway chain (click
here for a location search) sell Walkers crisps in all flavours. Not cheap though!

Oops - just saw you excluded Subway - sorry (I can't delete the post!)

They are all gonna munched by (unsuspecting)

Germans so it's not like it has to be top top British quality like. And I boycott Walkers for breaking the holy rule of crisp pack colouring:
Blue = Salt and Vinegar!
Green = Cheese and Onion!
Any fule kno!

Tip: If you use a spray bottle set on fine, you can spritz your chips and they won't be so soggy. Also, take your favorite vinegar and add a bit of the 25% stuff and you'll have your "twang".

You can even mist them one by one as you scarf.

True Jimbo I eat them when I'm at home like.
The curry in that range are pretty naff though.
However, some awful smelly anarchist mate of mine said that that posh range of crisps was only introduced by Walkers to strangle a small ickle family business who were doing really well introducing posh-ish crisps in pubs! Double bastards!
Anyway, the Germans (mostly) like the S+V crisps I got in Tengelkack and I'll be dishing them out again in future when i work in that bar.
