hello,

i have just moved to munich - whats going on out there, its a big city but i've only found three other riders. been checking out the streets and found a few bits and bobs but want more, any good flat bank areas, blocks, steps that aren't a bust?

also is there a good BMX shop in town?

There is a little free outdoor concrete skatepark in the Olympiapark on the north end of the park near the tennis courts. I've seen BMX guys riding there.

Check videonauts.com/Skatespots for a list of the skateparks around Munich.

thanks pao. yep i've found the olympiapark one. small but pretty cool. also like the yellow wedges/banks up at the stadiuam. checked that link. not a lot to ride then but should be able to get a run or two out of some of them. i was told arabella park had some street stuff any ideas.

p.s who put that photo in my post, that park isn't in munich is it?

If you like big dirt jumps, I saw a few bmx bandits at the BombenKrator on the isar about 8k south of thalkirchen zoo.. (see the mtb threads)

the only shop worth mentioning is 360grad (see: allridebmx.de). It's in Lohof, on the way to the Airport. I got my fitbike there, but alas, have not ridden as much of late. there is also a BMX only park in unterschleissheim. Its a community-run place, expect to pay 8 to ride all day, but there was a deal if you become a 'member' its cheaper. [Something about you having to be the guy with the keys, so no riding when its your turn... or something.]

Im not as fit as I remember on it, and theres not so much in the way of ledges, staris, and whatever, but if you roll around, you'll find more than I did. There also a mini-skatepark in damn near every park in the city.

Ps. that photo looks like it was taken at the park in Unterschleissheim.

Seams to be a nice store, def need to check that one out. Damn, havent realized until now how much cheaper a bmx is compared to a full-sus. Must resist urge to spend money on a new bike...

how do you get to the unterschleissheim park? sounds like thats the place.
Crotaline
Hey. Take the S-bahn S1 i think towards the Airport. The shop is in Lohof, and its a short walk from the bahn.
The park is inbetween the Unterschleissheim and Lohof s-bahn. theres a SPORTPARK listed on the map in every bahn station.
Look for Unterschleissheim and Lohof and then go (southeast?) there is a sportpark, the skatepark there is next to the pool/divingboards. Behind the trees. No... the OTHER trees. Go in and make a right. You can see the Lights for the stadium from the S-bahn

The store is ... get off the S-bahn at Lohof and go out and right. Cut thru the park on the right, and look for the gas-station. Its across the street from that. The guy (thomas) speaks english and if they dont have it, they more often than not can order it. And he knows spots and spots. I wanted to go out to Augsburg and check the dirt trails there, but I never made it. (I also dont know where it is...)

Pat, you cant do Geisskopf on a BMX. At least not all of it.

@Crotaline: probably not, although I have seen a guy take his bmx all the way up on the chair. Dunno where he went from there but from the top there are only 3 options down: NS, DH or freeride trail, no matter which one he did he's got my respect. Hope he didn't kill himself though. The bikerX is doable, seen a few people on there.

My list for santa this year currently includes a street HT and a bmx... santa better have saved up some money.

cool, thanks for the details. i am hoping to get over there this weekend for a bit of a jam as long as the weathers all right although i've cracked the ball race on my front wheel so gotta get that sorted first...

well if u can find a way to get to the old airport in neubiberg (kinda outta town.. i think there is an s-bahn stop ear there tho...or maybe neuperlach süd is the best bet... pl skate n stuff on the old runway and there is a little skate park there) there are always a bunch of guys on bmx bikes there...
