yes, get to a doc, you could have a pinched nerve or beginnings of carpel tunnel.

Drinking a lot recently?
Go to the Wiesn and drink 6 litres of fresh beer. The rest of your body will then match your fingers!

Yes, drinking way too much at the weekend. Started Sat lunch time & got home last night!

I had similar last week. Woke up and the little finger on my left hand was white and numb. Turned out I'd been bitten on my shoulder by a spider and that was the result of the infection. Had to get a steroid shot.

Then I would suggest your fingers are in a normal state and the rest of your body is in a state of over sensitivity

could just be poor circulation caused by the excessive amounts of Wies'n Saft.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like it could be carpel tunnel then. Keydeck, I don't think there were too many spiders in the bar that I woke up in at the Ostbahnhof, but that sounds a bit freaky too though

Someone should do a study about the mortality rate in people asking for medical advice on chat forums.

To me it sounds unlikely because, AFAIK, carp
al tunnel syndrome is supposed to be painful and usually affects the thumb and the fingers next to it, not the little finger. (You might be an exception to the rule, though, you never know.) But even if you have "only" a pinched nerve you should have it checked, so if it persists go to see a doctor.

I bet the spider needed more than a steroid shot.

Jeckel you have "Alcoholic Neuropathy".
http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/a/alcoholic_...pathy/intro.htmQUOTE
Long term excessive consumption of alcohol can have a toxic effect on nerves and hence results in decreased nerve function. The nerve damage caused by alcohol is often permanent. Sufferers may feel burning and tingling sensations, weakness or numbness.

Actually there are truckloads of possible reasons:

I wouldn't worry too much Carm (but if you have any spare tickets for the Oktoberfest better flog 'em now, and don't spend the cash on christmas presents).

Go to the doc, I am no doctor and I am unaware of any that are on here. However, I have persistent mildly numb fingers, usually tips of pinky and ring finger. I have talked to docs and they run tests and in the end they think its caused by pinched nerves in my wrist. Likely from typing and riding bikes. but I am sure there are any number of causes, some more grave than others.

Do you have spidey senses now, and are they tingling. I didn't really need that comma before the and but I digress. Anyway, yeah so if you get a costume can you not make it so gay. Put some flames on it or something you know like the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzards. Sure its not related but that was one bitchin' auto-mo-bile.

YES, YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED! S'cuse the capitals, but if you have numbness in some fingers, or in one or both arms, it can be a problem with your spine - a trapped nerve, or a slipped disc. A lot of people tend to think of the lower back when they hear "slipped disc", but you can get them anywhere in the spine, including the neck, and it's not something to take lightly. The sooner it's treated, the better, before it gets worse, or before you end up with lasting damage to the nerves. I'm not a medical expert, but I think tingling or numbness in the 3rd and 4th fingers is particularly indicative that the problem may be coming from the spine, and not a locally pinched nerve.
Then again, it might be something relatively harmless, but you don't know that until you get it diagnosed. If you have persistent numbness, don't mess around. I'm thinking of one TT'er who had something like that a few months ago, it got worse and worse, in the end she saw a doctor who found that she had a slipped disc in the neck which had already damaged the spinal cord, she said she was going to have an operation, and nothing has been heard from her since.

Nope, sounds *exactly* like carpel tunnel to me. I've currently got carpel tunnel issues in both wrists brought on by pregnancy, and I noticed it when I started waking up with the last three fingers on both hands numb. I got a couple wrist braces to wear while I sleep (and, of course, talked to my doc about it), and since I've been wearing them they've stopped going numb. I recognized the issue as CTS, because I had it in one of my wrists while I was living in Munich. Sometimes I would wake up with my entire arm so completely numb that I was afraid there was permanent damage!

If you mean 4th and 5th (the thumb counts as 1st) then yes, it is a possible indication of a dodgy disc in the cervical spine. I do know that from experience. But that's just me, it doesn't have to be that or carpal tunnel or killer spiders - WE don't know, which is why you should go to a doctor.

I agree that it's most likely a pinched or inflammed nerve in the cervical spine. I had very similiar sypmtoms and luckily they resolved without surgery. I toke some ibuprofen and didn't do my strengh training for about a week and I was just fine. Have you been lifting weights over your head? But I would see a doc asap to get a diagnosis which may give you some peace of mine.

Were your symptoms also after just waking up? I still think it's most likely carpel tunnel. Fits the bill 100%.

We were pretty blootered but had pretty much drunk ourselves sober, - if that really is possible!? The others I was with wanted to start on the Schnapps so I decided to grab some zeds. It was after that the fingers were numb. My left hand began to feel similar today (Tues) but not so extreme. As a typical bloke, I haven't been to the docs yet but will be in the morning.

That is at least good to know, thanks. I was lifting some, er, weights but not over my head, just as far as my mouth!
It couldn't have been the sleeping position either 'cos a guy I used to work with used to regularly fall asleep at work with his head on the table

I think more the latter. I know from personal experiance and do hand excercises every morning. If you do a lot of typing then definately strong possibility.
