I would like to take my 11 year old to a gig. But is that allowed at
Muffathalle or is it only for 18+ 'cos they have a bar etc? Only been there once and saw some very young/short people, but not sure if they were actually kids. Mine is a big tough 11 year old so no actual concerns for his physical wellbeing at a gig. I think I went to my first gig (10cc) when I was 11 :-)
I took my daughter to see Juliette & The Licks (its a bit like 10cc, only with balls and a damn site more rock and roll... and moshing). She is 12. I contacted the band first and they said it would be OK, but suggested I contacted the concert hall, and they said it would be OK. So we went. She was a bit scared at first but got right into it after a few numbers.
Who do you want to take him to see?

The Decemberists on Friday night. Obviously I can just give 'em a ring tomorrow, just wondered if anyone knew the score offhand.

Sin, I think that was the Elserhalle, not
Muffathalle.
JE, I went to the Decemberists' previous gig at the Muffathalle, mistakenly thinking it was something I might enjoy, and the crowd seemed to be composed mainly of kids who looked to me a lot younger than 18.

Children are allowed to go to concerts from the age of 14 with parents' consent i.e. if you make sure they have some sort of letter with them that says they are allowed to go there. If with an adult I don't think there are any restrictions. Of course each and every venue can make exceptions for themselves. Usually you can check this out on the individual websites.

I gave them a ring. Over the age of 6 is fine if accompanied by parent. I might do that "German thing" and fit him with some optional earplugs as well - although he has had 3 ear operations in the past for glue ear so probably won't be a major issue!!
Thanks for the other replies.
