Finding a table after your reservation period ends - Munich

Oktoberfest etiquette question

MonksTown
Was all planned to go EARLY to the fest tomorrow to get a seat at GaySunday cos last year at 0830 they were nearly all gone.
The friends I was going with now have manged to wangle a box and are meeting at 1000 cos we will all get in.
BUT the reservation ends at 1600 or something and we have to leave the table and try and find a new place ie we won't.
How to not appear ungrateful for the box offer but at the same time have a place after 1600?
If I keep looking round for other mates from around 1400 it might look really rude...

Easy, sweetheart. About one hour or so before your reservation ends look around for a non-reserved table, square up with your charming waiter (or waitress), give him/her a kiss and a hug and your phone number (if he) and a huge good-bye tip and migrate to the other table. Drag your mates with you, they will grovel at your ... feet for it. It's the same advice I give my clients; if you treat the staff decently before you leave they will love you*, especially for the hour between reservations where 10 guys (or gals) have to drink fast coz the next lot is arriving 5pm sharp.

*Mention my name so I get that reservation next year!

I would assume that after six hours of Wiesn most of you should have had enough beers anyway ... Usually you - at least I do - drink about one Mass per hour. After six or so, I don't think there is much reason to continue.

Doesn't always work... On Saturday we spent the morning in Winzerer Fahndl sweet talking & generously tipping our waitress & waiter pair and they were great, even joining us for a beer. When the reservation got close we left when asked, and when the people with the reservation arrived we sent the girls in to ask if they had spare seats, which worked. All seemed fine, except our waiter turned into Mr. Arsehole and refused to serve us, and gave no intelligible reason why, just he was fed up with something - we weren't even that drunk .

Did you actually get thrown out of the tent or did you just have to leave that table and then you were forced to look for something else?

Next Friday, we have a reservation until late afternoon in one of the better tents. Presumably by the time our reservation ends, the tent will probably been closed. I'm wondering if we will be forced to leave the tent or just forced to leave our table.
