Full Version: Going to the Oktoberfest with a cold

I realized this morning that I am coming down with an unseasonable cold - sore throat, photosensitivity, massive sneezing, stuffy nose, headache etc. Thing is, I have a really hot date with five Northern Irish firefighters this coming Tuesday at the Wiesn and I don't want to disappoint them (most of all, I have the vouchers). Can I justify going to the Wiesn while contagious and risk causing an epidemic, or should I stay at home and let someone else take my place?

This is actually a serious dilemma as I generally end up with some kind of cold after going to the Wiesn due to badly washed Maßkrüge infested with virus and bacteria.

I think you answered your own question wink.gif Load up on the OJ and think healthy thoughts smile.gif Of all the masses and Maß's I think a lot of people are going sick and a lot of people are leaving sick...

DON'T MISS THE IRISH FIREFIGHTERS!!!

Five days between now and Tuesday - I don't think you'll still be contagious.

3 years ago,I went to the Wiesn with a bad cold, I had visitors so I had to go, it was awful. My temperature went up and down like a yo-yo, and the smokey atmosphere meant I could hardly breathe. I then spent the next week off work because I was so ill. It was so bad that I actually went to the doctors, even though I knew he probably could do nothing. I've never been so unwell in all my life. sad.gif

Maybe true Mr A but if you had been with a hunky fireman you'd have been OK cos they all know first aid and shizzle.

You'll be fine.

The infectious period (time during which an infected person can infect others) begins about one day before symptoms begin, and continues for the first five days of the illness. Symptoms, however, are not necessary for viral shedding or transmission, as a percentage of asymptomatic subjects exhibit viruses in nasal swabs.[4]

We got pretty wet last year.

So the TT docs are giving me the ok. Suppose I'll have to risk it then.

If there's any ministering to the sick to be done, I prefer a pretty little (female) nurse! smile.gif

Go and have fun, Sara, but you'll have to figure that you will be really sick afterwards...
Kay
This should be in the "Corrupt wishes" thread! rolleyes.gif

Granted, you have a hunky firefighter but are too feverish and dizzy to shag him senseless.
seb
Go down and meet them cos you have the tickets. If they are indeed hunky then stay and go to bed later with some hot totty. If they arent cute then go home to bed with a hot toddy!
Carm
as much as you are looking forward to it, I don't advise it, you spread your germs to everyone there, the maß glasses are never washed that good, the tents are warm and no air circulation... perfect breeding ground for colds to spread. Now, I know why people always leave with the 'Fest Cold'.

Cos someone openend the doors and there was a draught! wink.gif

So thats why they close the doors all the time...and they made us all believe they closed because of too many people inside smile.gif

I've been sick as hell for the last week (as can be seen by my frequency of posts this week)...and would find it just fucking evil to go to the fest knowing you're spreading it.

It's not like it's a 2-day thing, wait til you're well...then go. It's just not worth it for you to ruin everyone's fun.
butterbean
Um, I think you should not go and have someone else escort them to the Wiesn. I'll be in town and willing to sacrifice my Tuesday night dinner with 20 tax attorneys, saint that I am. wink.gif
