Put your left hand little finger over the moon and stretch it out to the right and you will see Jupiter over your thumb...

Just simulated last night's view to the south using the free Stellarium. Jupiter and the Moon were about one hour of Right Ascension apart last night. I'm a bit lost. Was Jupiter at its highest elevation this apparition or "viewing season"?
@MG: Are you more interested in planets or deep sky?

Im intrested in getting the scope out and finding anything, still a beginner but the scopes been sat here 4 years.
I will get a star chart out tonight and attempt some hopping
