That's a good point. I know far too many men being slowly hen-pecked to death by their controlling wives.

Not read the whole thread so apologies if this point of view has already been stated but isn't re-marriage every 7 years like being convicted of the same crime on multiple occasions?

Whatever happened to double jeopardy ?
AquaticMeringue
Keep in mind, no one would be forcing you to give up your marriage after 7 years, you just have to renew your license as you would do with your passport or your drivers license. Does the fact that you have to renew your drivers license stop people from driving?

Hardly a reasonable analogy; a driving licence doesn't need to be renewed if you buy a new car, nor can it be lost if you get caught driving a hire car.

But this renewal proposal sounds more like a marriage tax to me.

hat happened to the whole "till death do us part" thing??

think it was a bloody good idea when you could only expect to live to 30...if you were lucky

think if 7 years was the norm most marriages that dont make it to the 5 years mark might try holidng on.. and that might help in the long run.. teach you to work things out.

So this hell place. Is it somewhere near Rosenheim?

I personally lean towards Schwandorf - perhaps not incidentally, the location of one of Stoiber's more notable mouth-offs.

The locals thought it was one of the better things a politician had said lately.

"So who do you want to be chancellor, Schroeder or Merkel?" I asked Elfride, an older lady who lives there and came to my town pub to meet up with her friends, shortly after that incident (just before the 2005 election).

"Stoiber!"

Bavarian politics: one of my favorite spectator sports.

Complete the analogy: if Bavaria is the Texas of Germany, then the Oberpfalz is the ___________.

For those who have followed this controversy, the following article should be of interest:

Pauli is said to have plagiated her idea from the well-known Franconian comedian Erwin Pelzig.

I think its about 10 minutes north of Landsberg actually.

No, it is in Schwabing, in my room!

No, it is in Schwabing, in my room!

I'd have thought S+M adverts were better in the adult section?

I think next step can be to allow parallel marriage contracts like it is allowed for mobile phones...what a f***ing stupid though!!!
Pas
Or get rid of the roaming charges from marriages?
EmptySuitcase
I'd have thought S+M adverts were better in the adult section?

What is an S+M advert? It wasn't an advert though...

Hey, don't come here, the bodyguards will shoot you down!!! My neighbors became really worried since a while... They are now protecting my broken heart from the outer world, actually. I began throwing knives into the wall, last Friday...

@EmptySuitcase

Sorry, it was a little play on words. I'm guessing you're not English.

Definion of S and M

OMG! Thanks for definitions, though.

Err, no, I am not English. I am only... human, just as my profile says! Do not wish to share more information about my identity on a public forum.

I just heard the comments on TV about this time-limited marriage thing. I find it ridiculous. Most of the other candidates and the public opinion seem to be heavily judging her. What did she think or expect, at all??? There are still much more people who would vote for marriage (with all the ups and downs) than for dry "contracts"...
She's just trying to kill the romance of it, all.
If a person isn't prepared for marriage, let them have simply a "relationship" and let them choose not to marry. It's not a must-be, isn't it. There are enough laws in this country regulating a simple life-partner, move-in-together thing as well, aren't there?
EHenderson
How insane is this? Is this real? I've read other things on Toytown that when researched on other new sights have been disproved, so I still remain skeptical.
As someone else wrote, "whatever happened to 'Til Death Do Us Part". If you're mature enough to walk down the aisle and say I do then you should be mature enough to keep that commitment, and smart enough to not do that unless you're ready. Ok bad things happen, and yes divorce happens, but the state determining how long your marriage lasts, and insisting you renew if after seven years?? I don't think so.
Pas
As I said above. Who determined it is forever and why? Is the world in the same shape as when this was decided? We live longer, we have (almost) sexual equality, etc etc.
James_Runner
There was a commentary on this in The London Times.
Renia
So you think its a bad idea then?
sea-king
The woman stole the idea from a Caberet Artist,
she was looking to set up a bit of a scandal around her person,
ends up she´s getting booted out of her party, cos they are sick of her.
Cos she is a plonker!
Lifeisabuffet
So is she also proposing a Probezeit during the time limited-marriage?
