Changing a language course visa to a work visa

Is this possible before the first visa expires?

Hi there!

I moved to Munich to join my german fiance and am currently here on a one year Sprachkursvisum which ends next year in June. I have a job offer from my former employer which has headoffice here in Munich and have already the contract from them. Sprachkursvisum says that i cannot work while on this visa therefore would like to find out if anybody knows if i can "change" or "switch" the sprachkursvisum to a workvisum?

Yes, this is definitely possible. I did it last year.

Just be prepared to go through the whole process starting from scratch. No corners cut just because you're already permitted to stay for a while longer. That includes you having to provide proof of financial means again - even though you're only asking them to let you start earning more (that's from personal experience). Get a letter from the company explaining why you are the perfect candidate and no others would be able to do the job. Along with the signed contract this should get the ball rolling relatively quickly.

Good luck.
