Fortnightly drinks in Heidelberg and Mannheim

Well I'm back and can do either if people are still interested.

Forget Heidelberg this Saturday. Come to the wine fest in Gimmeldingen! You know it's a good time with a name like Gimmeldingen.

And it's closer to you, 1t.

A bunch of us will be going. I can meet you at the train station in Neustadt (45 min straight shot from Heidelberg, 30 mins from Kaiserslautern). And then it's right up the road. Come to the Pfalz!

@bohemka - well, I'm up for it if the folks from HD are also keen to come to the Pfalz.. Otherwise I wouldn't like to leave them hanging, especially after I suggested the meetup in the first place. On the other hand, if there aren't too many who are keen to meet up in HD, I'll come out to Neustadt and meet up with you - I have your phone# so I'll be in touch. how's that?

@ommthree, Annika and Ameiva --> the "tentative" plan is HD, early evening hopefully - say about 6? I'm up for suggestions for places, but somewhere that's easy to get to from the Bahnhof or thereabouts would be neat. Lemme know if that sounds good.

P'rhaps Ferkel and the other Heidelbergers will also join???

1tennisplayer knows these better than I do but there's the Thanner, the Merlin (though those might even be the same place!) and a couple of others. It's probably easier if he suggests a place. 6 is OK for me too...it will force me to be vaguely organized today, so that is good.

Alright folks, here's the plan.

Let's meet at Cafe Gecko opposite the Galeria Kaufhof at Bismarkplatz, at say 6:30pm. Since I'm not from HD, I only know a few places there... so I'm sure once we meet at Cafe Gecko, we can pick another place if need be.

@astro_kelly: We meet fortnightly (sort of) alternating between Mannheim and HD. Although every Tue. some of us meet up at Murphy's Law - the Irish pub - near Mannheim Hauptbahnhof for a pub-quiz.

I'm new to Heidelberg to can't comment on the best place, but am keen to come along and enjoy some english speaking!

We can't make thursday and friday would depend on how jet lagged my better half is. Not too likely to see us methinks. Have fun.

The place i posted earlier are either in the city or at Alte Messe platz ( you can get there on the straßenbahns numbers 1,2,3,4) its a little nicer there as its near the Neckar.

All the places i know direct by HBF are expensive and not very good food, but if some knows somewhere then let me know.

An odd question I know but...I was just wondering if anyone was in the Dubliner last Thursday 28th August for the quiz?! It was my maiden night out to hopefully meet people but I must say it wasn't as easy as I thought it'd be (the quiz and meeting people!) ... I'm contemplating wearing an "A" board next time saying "can i be your friend?"... I did talk to one person - possibly the only German person in there and he was feeling far too competitive to talk to me!! Any how, I'm not back in HD until October now but it'd be cool to hear from anyone that is out and about. I briefly mentioned before that I work in video so would love to hear from anyone doing something similar or even anyone who would potentially use my services.

@Surrey78: I don't live in HD, but I expect we'll still be having our meetups / pub quizzes when you get here. You're welcome to join us then
