Fortnightly drinks in Heidelberg and Mannheim

hey guys!

As Elfenstar already said i'm organising the nxt meet up for Tues 2nd October, but as i'm a Mannheimer i know very little about bars in Heidelberg. I'm going to heidelberg later today so i can have a look around, but does anyone have any suggestions?

the only places i have ever been too in Heidelberg to eat are:

hey JodieJo. browse this thread in the discussion archive. some HDers made some suggestions, including one you mentioned (Hemingways - that one is close to Bismarckplatz, so easy to reach for everyone). I think at the last event, GIHH said something about "Geckos"?

No you haven't. We were all quite surprised to see only women too. But I'm afraid you'll have to talk to someone else about rugby! More of a footie fan myself (but usually only if the likes of Zidane, Figo and other TDH types play)

Well, I reckon I can cope with a being outnumbered. I don't need to talk about rugby particularly, I just need to find a place to watch it! I'll try to come along on the 2nd or failing that I'll be along to the one four weeks later. (I'm in blighty for the intermediate one).

at our first get-together, there was a good 50/50 ratio, so no worries, it was not a ladies-only thingy. i know for a fact that next time, a man will show up!

For the next meeting I'm thinking of booking a table at either Gekco or Hemmingway's, as i don't live in heidelberg does anyone have any preference as i've not been to either!

Also at the last meeting some of us talked about a pub quiz i've found out there is one on a Tues night at murphy's law (the irish pub right by HBF) in mannheim http://murphyslaw-mannheim.com/. if anyone is interested let me know!

Those who are up for givin the pub quiz a go we could try Two weeks from today on the 9th, as tonight is too short notice and next week we're meeting in Heidelberg. I'll try to pop by Murphy's law to check which language the Quiz is in but all the website is in English so hopefully its in English too.

I'm no quiz boffin either but its a good excuse to get together and it could be fun.

Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to come on Tuesday the 2nd. I have a non-English speaking friend visiting from Munich. But, in case the party goes on afterwards into the morning hours (since Wednesday IS a holiday ), I would maybe join you later for some cocktails and dancing.

Just some info, the pub quiz in Murphys is indeed in English and for anyone who wants to watch rugby, O'Reillys in Neuenheim and the Dubliner on Hauptstr show all the games and probably the new English pub, (the Talbot I think) too. Due to the fact that this weekend is pretty much all qualifying games both pubs will be pretty crowded so get there earlyish if you want a seat with a view. And don't forget Heidelberger Herbst on Saturday.

On the 2nd I'll bring one of my colleagues too...

i've been trying to book a table at hemmingways but they won't take bookings on Tues night.

I've booked a table at Havanna in heidelberg as i had no answer from Gekko. I hope its ok with you guys i've been there once and food is good. there is also a small clubbed attached for dancing later.

Havanna is a good choice, too. Probably almost better when you can't sit outside, because Hemingway's is small inside and we would probably fill it up all by ourselves. I will definitely come tonight, but I will be late as I have a photography course until 7:45 pm. See ya all tonight.

it's official. i will not be able to make it tonight. one colleague backed out of helping me build-up my kitchen, so now I have to fill in. no, no, i am greatful they're doing this out of the kindness of their hearts, but try organizing a team of family fathers to help out their one and only single colleague was project planning worthy of any consultant! i was surprised i could find one day they all had free.

Hey Guys!

A few of us got together last night at murphy's law in mannheim for the pub quiz. we where wondering if there where any plans for next week for the meet in Mannheim?

If there is not could we suggest Murphy's Law as you can get food there as well as rack your brains in the quiz. plus its right by HBF for those coming from outside mannheim.

I'm all for that. The quiz was fun... even if we weren't exactly in the running. There was plenty of time for chatting etc as the quiz takes a leisurely pace...

Anyone coming along should listen to a few Nirvana albums if they get a chance It seems that there will be a couple of questions on this as the team that is placed last each week gets to request a subject for the following week. No one will be suprised that I do not have any Nirvana albums!
