Does anyone know if cranberries are available in Germany in general and Hamburg in particular?
The holidays are slowly creeping up and I've got a hankering for some home-made cranberry sauce. Yum!

We found some last year (before xmas though), in Metro. Unfortunately you need an account card to shop there, but it's probably a good sign that you might be able to pick them up in other supermarkets. Frozen, but very good for making sauce. Not sure about getting them fresh.
Karstadt in the centre has an American food corner, things you can't make you can probably pick up there too.

Thanks to those who replied. I'll keep my eyes peeled at Karstadt & Schlemmer. What/where is Metro? Is this akin to Costco or Sam's Club?

It's too late for Thansgiving '07, but the Karstadt in the Quarree at Wandsbek has been carrying fresh cranberries for a few weeks now. I made a yummy Cranberry Ginger Relish with them.

Here's a link to the recipe:
Martha Stewart's Cranberry-Ginger Relish.
You will need:
1 bag (12 ounces) fresh or frozen cranberries
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
2 tablespoons sherry vinegar or red-wine vinegar
Here are pictures of how mine turned out:

as the season is approaching, I just saw them fresh at Sky, although expensive at €2 for a small package.
