Hi

Looking for some help on the above topic. We are travelling to Düsseldorf for a stag do, arriving on Friday 18 january 2008 and departing on Sunday 20 Jan 2008. There are nine people travelling. We are looking for info on how to get from Düsseldorf Weeze airport (which is approx 80km from Düsseldorf City Centre) to the Holiday Inn City Centre on Friday 18th Jan. If anyone could offer any advice or any travel/mini-bus companies who would be interested could you please let me know.

We do not require a return transfer as we are depart from Düsseldorf International on the Sunday.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as would any info on any activities, sightseeing ventures etc that anyone would recommend whilst we are in Düsseldorf.

Many thanks

Having a look at the airports web site, under shuttle/ground transport would be the 1st place to look...
A google search would have given you a lot more details

Hi there !!!

You can take R-Bahn RE10 Kleve Bf to Düsseldorf hbf from Weeze Hbf, you will get TaxiBus 73 Airlinie Kevelaer Airpark Nord from Weeze Airport to Weeze Hbf
All you need to do is to open www.vrr.de and search the route from Weeze Flughafen to Düsseldorf hbf.

You can get a group ticket for 5 people for 35 euros from the automated machine, the Taxibus will charge you 2.1 eu pp.

Second way is to take the Schilling bus from the Weeze Airport to Worringer platz near Hbf.
The ticket for the same is 11 eu/pp the details for the same are given on page..http://www.airport-weeze.de/2-3-3_bus_duesseldorf.php?lang=en

IMPORTANT !!!

If you are arriving late night, i.e. after 11:00 pm, do arrange some mode of transportation in advance coz No RE10 runs after 2245 hrs and the next is at 0451 hrs next day morning...
Also there is no Schilling bus service available at that time...also Weeze Aiport unlike any other Airport in the world is closed at night...used Weeze thrice...It sucks big time...

Hope it helps !!

Cheers!!!

Adventures in Düsseldorf the world's longest bar... hmm where should we start.

If you are staying at the Holiday Inn on Graf-Adolf-Platz you should mosey on up the Königsallee past all the fancy shops and turn left at Kaufhof, this will bring you slap bang into the middle of the Altstadt.

The Altstadt is basically one pub after another. Look out for Bolkerstrasse - this is the hub of the night life or low life, whatever it is good fun.

The German breweries in Düss serve Altbier which is similar to mild ale. The main ones are Schumacher's, Fuchschen, Uerige - this is where some bits of Aufwiedersehen Pet were filmed.

Keep walking towards the Rhein, then turn left and head towards the TV tower - great views over the city. Whilst at the TV tower, check out the harbour area - loads of good restaurants and bars - brunch is fantastic at Eigelstein on Hammerstrasse.

http://www.duesseldorf.de/en/index.shtml has some tourist tips.

No doubt you will get to the Altstadt and end up in one of the irish bars - McLaughlins, Suttons, Fatty's, Buck Mulligans. Please please go to other places too!
