Oh I'll still be hating the church - I don't know why you need to take it so personally though

Hardly when Britain continues to enjoy political parties with such ludicrous names as
"Sinn Féin" - English translation "Ourselves" - a party populated by murderers and other fine folk.

Dear Mr "Do not covet thy neighbour's Wife",

Are the murderers Catholic or Protestant?

Yours sincerely
A Christian Irishman.
parnell
Well that was a quick turnaround.

I dont take it personally mate , I just think it's a laugh that you get your knickers so much in a twist over this stuff... you'd swear that you weren't a guy who used to run a company selling poison to people. Just find your whole position preposterous to the extent of amusement.

Hello there ...

I imagine that murderers , in their act of murder , are hardly "Christian". Hope this helps.

I find it amusing that everytime somebody dares criticise anything the catholic church does - you're in there in a flash defending completely indefensible positions...
parnell
Not everytime Hazza , sometimes , Jules occassionally walks the line too ... I consider myself more Christian than Catholic in any case ... I'm just intimately familiar with a lot of good people do in the name of the Church , you turned down that chance to see for yourself.

Well used and not a bit bothered by fingers mate...

I defer to Mr. Alice Cooper:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_Cooper#Personal_life

Although he doesn't like to boast of his religion, Cooper has confirmed in interviews that he is in fact a born again Christian. He has avoided "celebrity Christianity" because, as Cooper states himself: "it's really easy to focus on Alice Cooper and not on Christ. I'm a rock singer. I'm nothing more than that. I'm not a philosopher. I consider myself low on the totem pole of knowledgeable Christians. So, don't look for answers from me".[20]

When asked by the British Sunday Times Magazine in 2001 how a rebellious shock-rocker could be a Christian, Alice is creditted with providing this response "Drinking beer is easy. Trashing your hotel room is easy. But being a Christian, that's a tough call. That's real rebellion!"[citation needed]

Is this just yet another thread for TTers to spew forth their anti-Catholic bigotry and hate-speech? Screw MTV and also the Emmy Awards. I think you atheists should follow the Church's advice and just be "quiet." Unfortunately, you seem unable to do this because of the restlessness in your souls. I certainly don't need no stinking atheists to try and tell me what to do!

Anyway - this is getting boring and repetitive.

Understatement of the year! Why does it have to crop up in lots of different threads when it can happily have a thread of its own...

They are naturally both depending on where the money/racketeering and drugs are...

If you've got no place to go, if you're feeling down
If you're all alone when the pretty birds have flown
Honey I'm still free
Take a chance on me
Gonna do my very best and it ain't no lie
If you put me to the test, if you let me try

Welcome.

We just finished. You missed the best part. Obviously Baby Jesus didn't wake you in time...
Uncle Nick
@BadBob: yes, but we don't want the christians to tell us what to do or not to do either! Btw I have nothing against religion per se if people are happy with it fair enough, but I don't like having to obey rules that come from a religion that I don't believe in or care about.

Hazza, pretty tough talk for a guy who gets his rocks off attacking little ol' ladies like Mother Teresa, a Saint and also a Nobel Peace Prize winner. Go back to reading Vanity Fair. You really should be embarrassed and ashamed of yourself. Your anti-Catholic hate-speech is very apparent to everyone.
EmptySuitcase
Is that a tit? I thought he was promoting methods of contraception with that cap, to indirectly promote his objection to abortion... unsure.gif You guys (Sin) just don't get it, do you???
BadBob
Everyone wants to be a comedian - don't quit your day jobs just yet.
parnell
ok last thing for me here

I like and respect Hazza - he's truly a good guy and a thinking one. Nothing more to add, have a great weekend y'all.

QUOTE (Corcaigh @ Sep 14 2007, 1:19 pm) *
My younger brother is just back from a year in Mexico and this particular "quiet holiday" is the biggest party of the year. All the familes go to the graveyards laden with drink and food and get plastered and dance around/on the graves of their dead rellies...

Yes, I suspect all this kerfuffle has little to do with Catholic doctrine, and a lot to do with some German control-freak clerics getting their knickers in a typically Teutonic twist about anybody being allowed to do anything at any time. Safer to put a blanket ban on all activities and spend the whole day immobilised with fear in case anyone does anything that brings the sky crashing down.
Janx Spirit
I fear GreenTea has succinctly put her finger on it. That and also the fact that the Bavarians love to ram religion down its citizens throats at every available opportunity. Bastards.

I still say that the Catholic church's collective twisted knickers are symptomatic of their fear of losing power and influence over society in general, and that they do try to tell a large number of non-Catholics what to do and not to do. But I am willing to laugh with you, if not for the same reason.

i hate mtv anyways. it's vulgar, immoral, and they've suddenly started playing really crappy music on their channels.

@ sarabyrd
I advise you to dance on Nov 1st and see if any priests smite you... you might be surprised to learn that you are not as important as you think.

The prists might not but the police might on occasions... on some catholic holidays where you are not allowed to dance, it is enforced by the police who check nightclubs etc. I also take offence to the church forcing us to non-catholics to adhere to its rules... (don't mind having their holidays here though :-)

Another smart move by the church...Way to turn young people off religion.

...thought they'd done that already by the actions which has led them so far, to pay out over (ouch) 1 billion dollars in compensation. Loose change I suspect, for the Vatican coffers.
