Strange error message when I load ACT!

Hello there,

At work I use ACT! to maintain and manage my contacts. Today when I turn on my computer, ACT sends me an error message that reads "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I hit OK, and then another window pops up and it says

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

Process ID=0xb98(2968), thread ID=0xa64(2660)

Press OK to terminate
Press CANCEL to debug

When I terminate, I get this same message anytime I try to open the application. When I hit CANCEL, the debugging process appears to start, but then all the windows close and nothing happens.

Does anyone know anything about these error messages? How can I open the application and access my database?

Any help much appreciated!

What's strange is that in every instance that I have restarted my laptop this morning, I get a .NET-Broadcast event window error message saying that the application is ending.

This is all very troublesome. To run an old application yesterday, I switched my computer to 16 bit. It's now back at 32 bit, but could that be the reason for the error?

ACT won't even let me remove the software. When I got to add/remove programs in the control panel, it tells me there is an error in removing it, and it won't delete the application! Aaaaarggg!
