I passed by on my way home late last night and was somewhat surprised to see a crowd of what must have been thousands awaiting entrance to Berlin's newest and arguably ugliest shopping mall, Alexa. I didn't even bother to try and get in. (Picture and - someone else's - video of the chaotic scenes inside here).

I don't get it. Are there any shops in this mall that are any different from the same tired chain shops in every other mall here?

No, but the MediaMarkt was advertising heavily discounted prices on electronic goods.

I passed by at 8pm and there was still a long queue to get in.

I went to go check it out yesterday because I wanted some mall stuff anyway (specifically, a style of dress they probably have at Mango or Zara) and I'm always in the area, but the MediaMarkt madness was still going on. The rest of the mall looked pretty normal...busy but not insane. I didn't want to shop there that badly so I went home.

anybody know the opening times there, .. is it open also on Sunday?
