Has anyone found Pam no-stick cooking spray in Germany or anything like it? I asked a few workers in a local
Tengelmann, and it was clear that they had never heard of it; they ultimately pointed me to the selection of vegetable oil and olive oil. So I picked up some olive oil, which I do enjoy cooking with, but I'd be very happy to have some Pam too.
you can buy it in Hit, Hertie and Kaufhof

and Karstadt. The "gourmet" or food sections in these stores are in the basement...there is always a little International section. The american products are usually surrounded by the mexican ones.
A bottle of Pam will set you back about €6.

Just for information and to satisfy my curiosity, why do you like cooking with some (probably chemically enhanced) spray instead of oil?
Generally sunflower oil is ideal for most frying purposes, olive oil can bring a distinctive flavour with it, butter is great for some lower temperature jobs, and best of all for things like roast potatoes, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding and so on is goose fat. What does the spray do for your cooking that the other things don't?

You can also buy a plastic pump bottle in most cookshops that you fill with your own olive oil and then use it the same way as PAM. Much more economical and environmentally better than paying through the nose for the same thing in an aerosol can

I assume one would use PAM if they want to watch their calorie and fat intake. I do as the person above and just use a spray bottle which I fill half and half with oil and water. It doesn't work quite as well as PAM but it saves on calories and is a lot cheaper.

A spray can help cut the amount of fat used as it is easier to get a finer coat. They are also pretty useful for oiling ridged griddle pans and cake tins.
If you can't find
Pam, trying getting a spray bottle (e.g. from Muji or kitchen equipment stores) and using your own oil or oil & water mix, although you will have to check if the oil is still fresh.

I'd better not comment really. Fighting hard against the urge...
I'm sure some supermarket stocks this stuff. I'll be next to the low fat mayo and just behind the tofu "bacon". Potentially also sold in shops that sell that amazing George Foreman Grill. Who would have thought that an angled grill pan and the extraordinary power of gravity would lead to excess fat pouring away. Genius.
Why fry anything atall? Just get a nice bamboo steamer, and get really into utterly tasteless food? Also, remember that salt, like fat, is very very bad for you, so never season anything either.

I use PAM, but has absolutely nothing to do with frying or calories or fat - I just like it because it works best as a non-stick spray is super quick and easy to use. I would never consider "frying" anything in it. I just use it to coat baking pans and skillet or waffle iron so stuff doesnt stick. If I am not mistaken, that is the purpoes of it - to keep things from sticking (ie, why it is called a non-stick spray). Yes many other ways work - it is just what one prefers.

Even an acknowledged Olive Oil fetishist like me can see the utility of sprays. When my daughter has a slumber party and I have to cook waffles for ten kids the next morning, non-stick sprays come in real handy.

Yep, for anything from €5-50, and they're all shit. They never work well from the start, then they clog up completely.

An amusing typo. Get over it already, d_r. Even fucking Ramsay has given up giving veggies shit. As long as they're not asking you to cook for them with that shit why the fuck do you care what people eat?

Mmmm... the sweet taste of sour grapes.
Oh, and the reason to use Pam is because it contains lecithin. It'll "stick" to Teflon and other non-stick surfaces, coating them evenly so that anything you put in the pan will be touching the oil rather than only hitting pools of oil in the high spots. No more blotchy sautees.
woof.

Real at the Euro industrie park (the one that used to be wal-mart) sells it. Saw it in there yesterday. It's in their international section, which is 2 or 3 rows on the right hand side before you get to the fruit and veg section.

The question is: why do the refillable oil misters clog up so quick? Why don't they make repairable ones?
Remember when Vidal Sassoon had the pump hairspray? That was an adhesive even, and it never clogged.
I would also like a hand-held milk foamer that lasts more than a month.

Schwabing stock Pam. I've only ever seen it in the Rewe in Arabellapark.

To make a spam fritter fried in PAM?
I have been on the search to find PAM as I have finally run out. Interestingly enough, I don't use it for frying, I use a couple of "shots" in my microwave rice cooker so that it doesn't overflow. I tried using some drops of oil, but it doesn't work nearly as good.
I tried Hertie (now Karstadt) and Kaufhof in Karlsplatz, Rewe at Odeonsplatz. I think Karstadt normally carries it, but they were out this time. I will try
Edeka next.

V-Markt on Balanstr. has it in their American section. Along with €5 mac and cheese in a box.
And yes, I bought some. So there.
