400 Aussies escorted out of Andechs by police - Munich

So, one of my coworkers was at Andechs yesterday and tells a story of 400 Austalians and New Zealanders being kicked out and. Apparently, they arrived at around noon and by 1600 the police had to be called for some smaller rowdy groups. As a few got hauled away, much of the rest got a bit rowdy themselves at the sight of their friends in cuffs. More police were called in, beers were confiscated, and the lot were escorted out.

Pig Pen tomorrow anyone?

Heh, had a bit of a run-in with the pigs myself last night actually, it must have been lets hassle southern hemispherians night or something. I was kind of choosing between Schottenhammel and Pig Pen for tommorrow, but after hearing this news, (and considering we will be in Schottenhammel Sunday anyway), Pig Pen it will be! Should be a wild time.

Hopefully not too many of them are still locked up.

Hope they get fcuking deported. If you can't handle your booze without becoming violent then you don't deserve to take part. It'd make more space for the people who just want to have a good time.

Agreed. If I remember rightly the signs say "singen und lärmen nicht gestattet" which doesn't leave a lot of room for manoeuvre.
It's just odd that it always seems to be the lads from Aus/NZ who get pinged at Andechs every September

Andechs might well be a pub but it is a MONASTARY pub.
We may all well like a decent quaff but Andechs remains a place of religious pilgrimage! Bit of decorum IS required!

Such news gives me such a warm and fuzzy feeling of national pride (pronounced "proid"). For the last 8 years I have always done a lap of Hofbräuzelt to renew my feelings of national pride...then I go back to one of the other tents.

Been there loads of times and had a great time. We don't exactly sit there quietly discussing the finer points of crochet but we don't get out of hand either. As Grtho said, there's a time and a place.
