OK I've realised that I actually can't actually bring all that much in my bags (20kgs are luggage allownce is nothing when one is moving their entire life to the other side of the world.)

Plus I don't own any warm clothes and since it's coming into summer over here shops have already gotten rid of winter stock and I will freeze my butt off if I don't find a couple of warm coat quick smart when I arrive...as I have nothing.

So what I'd like to know is can someone recomend where to go shopping??

Somewhere that sells coats, sweaters and stuff like that?

I hate shopping almost as much as I hate packing... so figure this is much easier asking then wandering around shop after shop looking-

If anyone could give me a few sugestions that would be awesome.

Hamburg is full of shops. We don't live in tents you know! There are shops everywhere - in the centre, various shopping centres outside. The main issue is finding the cash to pay for it all.

I (we) don't go shopping in Hamburg - too big, too busy etc.
We tend to go to Husum on North Sea coast (parents-in-law live closeby) - there is just ONE big store which simplifies shopping a lot and we eat excellent fish on quayside for lunch.

Edit: Ooops - I see I should not have answered as I'm not a "lady" ph34r.gif

ahah so the point why I asked was whichof the many shops you refer to will cut down the time I have to spend looking in shops- lol

Also shopping centres/malls are soul-less and scary :S

I havnt been to Australia but you are unlikely to find sites in Hamburg to compare in size with the US shopping malls (I'm in US for another week).

take a look at Einkaufszentrum_in_Hamburg in particular Moenckebergstrasse.

Which area of Hamburg are you heading for?

Hi Kittles,
You want to get on the Tube or a bus to Jungfernstieg (off-hand, the S1, S3, S21, S31, U2, U3, Bus 4, Bus 5 all stop there) and you're within EASY walking distance of 3 H&M branches (meaning you get to cover teen fashion AND big girls'), with C&A 5 minutes' walk away, passing at least 2 sports shops with sweaters & outdoor jackets en route. If you'd rather head for designer labels (but I can't really imaging anyone who hates shopping seriously wanting to do that!) take the Neuer Wall exit at Jungfernstieg - Jil Sander & Co are all down that road.
If you REALLY hate shopping with a vengeance, you might prefer to try ordering through a club book like www.otto.de or www.bonprix.de. Obviously they'll charge you p&p, but it's not much more than the price of a ticket into town these days, and you can return anything you don't like (they'll even send someone round to pick it up)!
PM me if you need any more info.
Hope you'll enjoy life over here!
