The Book Club met today and decided to read "The Namesake" by Jhumpa Lahiri. We thought that "Middlesex" was such a fabulous book that we'd keep to our theme of reading family sagas/Pulitizer Prize winners. Ha. Since this book was recently made into a movie, it should be relatively easy to find in paperback at a local store here or on Amazon.de.
Our next meeting will be held in the early part of October. I'd like to suggest Sunday, October 7th but the definite time and location can be discussed as the date approaches. Enjoy!

I can do it this Saturday or Sunday at noon but am unavailable the remaining weekends in October. There is a slight chance I could meet the last Saturday-October 27-but I won't until that week. Would that day work better or Should we postpone?
I think we need at least three people to join us to make it worth getting together.

eek. I haven't read the book yet, and the narration on the audio book (cheat, I know) is, frankly, really annoying. Might it be better to relaunch the book thing after october, then, and see who else is interested with a new book?

If we're going to wait until November, I'd rather stick with the same book and choose a tentative date now. That way everyone has time to finish. What do you think?

Hi Nicole - I arrive in Berlin at the end of the month for a period of self imposed exile from NZ, one benefit of which will be reading. I would very much like to join your book club - please count me in.
Also if I may suggest a title, how about The Brothers Karamazov.
cheers

Hi Guys,
I just joined this forum this week. Is the book club still running? I would be interested in joining it.
