How to beat addiction to TT

Advice on cutting down your forum usage

Why am I compelled, impelled and propelled towards TT ? My work and my life are at stake! I have delayed on my Friday reports, haven't done my 'Kehrwoche' and still haven't bought food from ALDI for the week. Should I resign like Jooli did but then I would be such a loss for TT? What can I do? What shall I do ? What should I do ? This is a cry for Help !

Find this man. He will teach you the way out of this black hole. Cold turkey.

Switch off PC? I find that helps. Saying that why am I writing this? Why am I here? Why don´t I switch off PC? Good idea shall do and back to nubile woman in bed I go! Bye. wink.gif

I think you might be developing Takingtoytowntooseriouslyitis. It's quite frequent, especially in the early stages of TT membership. Just don't let it turn into a chronic condition and you'll be fine.

I have been a member of this site, sorry bag of shite, for almost five years. I'm sorry to tell you this but this site is bloody addictive. Toytown is a bit like a small town pub which opens later than others which you bloody hate, but because they serve beer nowhere else you end up there at the end of the night. (that happens to be an accurate description of the pub I used to hang out in when I was 17, the Pen y Bryn in my hometown)

And the funny thing is you get used to the funny posts, the bloody annoying posts (I am guilty as charged of some of those) the odd unintelligible PM (erm...guilty also your honour) and the way any September 11th thread always ends in a Hitler quote by around post 20.

My advice is to get pie eyed and write something controversial, like I did once a few months ago. Wake up next morning with extreme embarrassment then log in when wife isnt looking to check what bollocks you wrote. Cringe with pain when the mod who you asked to delete the post, actually doesnt, then watch as a barrage of insults head your way. To this you must flounce.

Try to stay of absolutely hurt for two days.

Then as usual, a day later not two (no one can hold out that long) log in then check out the huge row you started.

That, my friend is Toytown.

No I am not piseed tonight, just tired)

Could have copied it all but was wondering what language you were using there my friend? Cos it means buggger at all to me.
Tiggi
Try to stay off? As in off the board? Think we've all been there.
jeremy
Car crash TV isnt it? Bit like Jerry Springer used to be?
Tiggi
Sure is. As well as much-needed distraction for many of us, I think.

Thanks all - Here's what I have to say now:

Miss all that bicker and banter
and thereafter the pouring ranter ?!!!
Oh, I see you frown
I'm only talking about Toytown
So I'll stay, strut, and occasionally canter !

Love and Peace to all, esp. to Johnny M. laugh.gif

Migrate to Facebook.

Actually that's the worst thing to do...
I'm hooked. It's like social crack.

TT is like a cup of tea by comparison

Sweetypie (lovely name, by the way laugh.gif ) I know what you're going through. Been there. It is highly addictive, especially at the beginning, when you're still finding your way around and getting to know all the crazy characters on here. There's so much to discover. Then after a while it gets to be like a soap opera - you can't stay away cos you're afraid of missing an instalment, and you always want to know what's going to happen next.

After some time, maybe a year or so, you reach a stage where you've seen most, if not all, of the many facets of TT, and you see that the same kind of discussions tend to recur over and over again. This is where you reach saturation point, and if you are strong enough, you may be able to get your addiction under control at this stage. But you are never really cured. I've been on here about a year and a half now, and I was just thinking the other day that I don't really need to check out TT every single day. There are so many other things in life. Stayed away for a couple of days and all was going well, but then today I had to look up some Munich public transport info in English for someone who doesn't speak German. So I go to the English version of the Munich transport web site, and what do I see? Up there at the top right of the page ... AAARRRGHHH! TT is everywhere! There is no escape!
Renia
Accidentally pouring water onto your laptop is a great way to beat TT addiction!

I second what Sami says about FB being social crack though... biggrin.gif

Simple advice. Stop reading, then answering, asinine threads. laugh.gif

And if you do, DON'T check "enable email notification of replies"...
