hello pals,

I just moved into hamburg a week back... Still trying to find my way around here. I would want to go to Frankfurt in a month from now. I would be going on a friday afternoon and want to come back Sunday (2 days trip). I would want to know how do I go about booking the tickets for the train to and fro from hamburg to Frankfurt. Hope people here can help me with this. How much would it cost for the trip? Any other procedures I need to follow? Any chance of getting any cheap tickets?

Thanks.

You can get ICE tickets for 29 EUR one way. Downside - you cannot cancel them. This is a special offer from Deutsche Bahn valid until 31.12.2007. The 29 EUR tickets are limited, so book early.

how do I go about doing the booking? Online or at the main station itself? Is there a website in English which I can refer to by any chance? so i can get two way tickets for 60 Euros? What about the train? DO I have the freedom to choose which one?

the web site is www.bahn.de it's pretty simple.

you can also go into the hauptbahof and ask for help there.

with a BahnCard25 and 3 days advance purchase the price is about €130,
without the BC it's about €190. there are plenty of trains to choose from.

you have to book early to get to the 29€ deal.

You can go to the train station or do it on line, to get online tickets you need to register, which is only in German, here is the website in English DBahn English

Just type in your start & destinations & it will give you a list of trains & on the right will tell you the cost.

...if you want in English. You can get 2-way tickets for 58 EUR (if you are lucky), around 3 EUR in addition for seat reservation. You will get the tickets as PDF to your email (take a printout and travel) or they send printed tickets to your address free of cost.
