Taxes on capital gains

I know there is a lot of info out there and that one should consult a lawyer but still it's wonderful to get learned opinion in English here. Is there any tax on sale of an inherited flat? If yes, is there a way to minimise it by reinvesting in a government fund/scheme? Does such a thing exist?

Yes you need a tax consultant. There are too many details that cant be verified here. The Basics: If you inherit something there is "Erbschaftssteuer", but I guess in your case, this has been a long time ago. If you sell your flat, there might be income tax on your gains, but this depends on several premises. §23 EStG is probably the relevant regulation.
