my bf and i have been shopping around for used kitchen appliances to fill up our new apt. a collegue told me about this guide: Secondhand kaufen (click Tipps zur Abfallvermeidung --> Secondhand kaufen --> Secondhand Führer) and it's pretty informative. all in german, but simple enough to understand.

you can get great deals on most appliances especially on washing machines (which we didn't need). most of the places also offer you a 6-12 month guarantee.

we however had to fork out for a glass-top stove (and oven too), but media markt had a display model on sale and we promptly bought it for €450. even ikea wouldn't have been cheaper.

Ok, my german reading ability sucks, is there a specific store you reccomend? I need a tv, stereo, bed, washing machine/dryer, etc.

Are there any good flea markets for antiques, and misc cool stuff.

i was only on the look out for used kitchen appliances. i saw loads of washing machines and dryers! i looked at the following places (see page 76 of the brochure):
- West End Elektro Shop: what you would expect from a second-hand place, but large selection. easy to get to either by bus or tram.
- Sendlinger Elektro Shop: mostly appliances with scratch marks and dents, however it is a service shop which sells new stuff too so you won't get any real good deal (he showed us a fridge for €450 which we bought for €200 less at media markt). also i only understood 40% of what he said.
- Elektrofundgrube: also what you'd expect from a second-hand place, lots of washing machines, selection smaller. easy to get to by u-bahn.

can't help you with the rest.

I stopped by a flea market one Saturday in the parking lot of the Olympic Stadium. It had loads of vendors and I found lots of unique items on the cheap.
