Hiya!
Does anyone out there go Biking in Munich? I'm up for trips to Garmisch and the like, or just local rides down the
Isar etc.
Cheers,
Al.

have ridden out to lakes
Starnberg (rode along the wurm) and wörth; pretty easy, but getting out of mü per bike was real shitty. am heading to lake garda for the long weekend, but i am a weakling when it comes to real mtbing, so if i survive next weekend, then i will get back to you. (these emoticons are cool. i guess i should use them sparingly or else i will be reminded of she-who-will-not-be-name-here)
Sounds cool!
I might even see you there, there is a bike club
http://www.rcconcordia.de/ who are off there the same weekend.
If you make it back to Munich alive then let me know and we can go for a ride!

where at lake garda will ya'll be? we're staying in riva right on the harbor 'cause some companions want to sail some.
I've sacked of the weekends riding, partly because the guy organising it didn't understand a word I said to him and partly because I have just taken ownership of a spanking new XBOX. That's four days spent indoors with just water and box of Kellogs Cornflakes for company. Joy.
I'd love to come riding one time, except before I can I'll have to get my bike tuned. Just lately, my rear derailer cannot get into its easiest 3-4 gears, and the front one doesn't like being in second. Does anyone know any good bike tuners in Munchen? I am sure there are heaps, but I don't want to get ripped off. I live pretty centrally, just a bit west of the
Hauptbahnhof

Greg, try Second Hand Sports on Nymphenburgerstrasse, near the Cinema - probably not too far from you if you're living west of Hbf.
The guy who runs it is american (either that or he's a german who's suffered the misfortune of picking up the accent) so it makes things a bit easier.
There's also Extreme Bikes, just up from the station, just follow the people up to the
Oktoberfest and it's on your left hand side.
... Alternativly you could bring it around mine and we can fettle with it on my bike stand.

Speaking of adjusting gears - does anyone know who to adjust the gear selector by the pedals? I know there are two screws for fine adjustment, but I can never get it right. I dont really want to put it into a shop just for this as its only a slight adjustment.
Being as its pissing down every week now I might as well try and fix my bike being as I cant ride it...
The two screws you mention are there to stop the chain from going too far and falling off the chainrings...
There is also a barrel adjuster on the gear shifters themselves, winding one way will take in slack and push the front mech out. If this isn't enough you might need to undo the bolt holding the cable and pull out some more slack before tightening again. This can be a bit tricky!
For more adive you could look on the forum under

But do you which screw does what?
I keep adjusting it without any method and I either make it so I cant move the chain to the smallest cog, or that the chain scrapes the guard/selector thing.
I'll take a look at that site it seems to have a lot of info. Thanks!
Erm... the top screw stops the chain falling off the smallest chainring, and the bottom screw stops it falling off the biggest chainring (Towards the cranks). It can change depending on the make/model of your front mech.
So when are we going riding then? A bit of cold weather never put me off riding... unless it's raining as well... Or cloudy for that matter, but that's it... Oh or foggy too.. Snow can be a bit of a bind also, as well as hail.
Best wait until April then..
