Visiting Oktoberfest without a table reservation

Hallo, I and my friends will visit oktoberfest on 29 September.
According to other threads in here, it is the hardest day to get seats.

We need 8 seats. I sent emails and faxes to SMALL tents, but it seems all of them are fully booked up.

Is there any one who will sell 8 seats in any kinds of tent? We cannot stay longer, because some of my friends have to go another city. So afternoon or early evening ticket will be enough for us.. 2 hours ticket also.
And how much time we should wait, if we go and wait on the line of small tent? We don't want to stay in line more than 1 hour..

If we just give up to get in the tent, is there anything to do in Wiesn? I mean, anything to watch or buy or drink outside of the tents..

Obviously the biggest recommendation would be for you to get there early...11ish or so to get inside a tent and a table that is not reserved. The wiesn is huge, and there is a lot to see that is not necessarily inside the tents: rides, games, food, and there are a few places outside of tents to get beer...plus all the tents have beer gardens in the front, and those tables are not reserved.

On the 29th I recommend that all 8 of you find a table by 9am. Officially they don't open until 10, however you can usually get into most tents by 8:30am...

at 11ish you can by running the risk of not finding a table for all 8 people since it is the weekend.

So when do you reckon 7 of us need to be there on friday? never taken the day off to go before, but was hoping that we wouldn't have to go at the crack of dawn like on a saturday.

If it isn't raining, like now, if you get there early afternoon, say 2-3 pm you should be ok

From experience, the first tents start to shut at around 3-4pm. Get there at lunch-time and you should be able to find a table for 7 of you without too much hassle
