More info on this? A Web site perhaps? Better description? I don't have the duds but I used to square dance. I understand the course is in German but what about the calling? Is it English? A mix of English and German (Prominade und do-si-do, Beug zum Partnern und bäck jü go... Promenade!)? How many nights a week are the classes? Which nights & what times? A little more information will net you a lot more response.

woof.

I'd actually be into this too.

Learning how to square dance was obligatory for the Calgary Stampede.

Learning how to square dance was obligatory in 6th grade. My dad and his wife even went to the national square dance convention - in of all places Hawaii.

I don't have a foofy skirt though, so I might just watch.

PS - google Munich Square Devils and you get their (German) website.

Square dance is GOOD FUN! It is a form of traditional American folk dance. 4 couples (man/woman) form a square and dance set figures. A caller leads the dancing by calling out the next figure whilst singing (middle of the road, popular music and oldie classics). Some similarity to English folk dance. A basic course consists of about 70 figures and formations which are taught from September through June, culminating in a graduation ceremony. After completing the course, you can dance at any club WORLD-WIDE. In Munich you could probably visit a different club every night if you wanted. Nice way to meet people of all ages (and get close to prospective partners - more subtle than speed-dating...). Square dance attire consists of Western style shirts for men, usually with jeans or straight leg trousers and cowboy accessories (no hats!!), ladies wear circular skirts and frilly full underskirts. Clothing to be acquired before graduation but not necessary at the start of the course.

Devils club nights every Tuesday from 7:30 to 10:00 followed by afterparty (food and drink). Course every Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Nearest U-Bahn: Böhmerwaldplatz, then a 10 minute walk along Stuntzstraße.

Calls are all in English but the course (Sep - June) is given in German by our two excellent callers.
