I'm assuming it's one of several nymphalid butterflies, such as Basilarchia astyanax (red-spotted purple), having blackish wings spotted with red, or Basilarchia arthemis (banded purple or white admiral), having brown wings banded with white, but I could be wrong.

If you collect enough belly fluff you could start knitting.
