Pre-festival Oktoberfest beer tasting in Freising

The annual pre-fest tasting of the festbier for the Freising Volksfest is taking place today starting at 5 PM on the Marienplatz.

This years Festbiers from Weihenstphan and Hofbrauhaus Freising will be available. A halbe costs just 1 Euro.

This is only the 2nd year this has been open to the public.

If the weathers bad it will move to the Asamgebaeude.

I went last year and it's agreat start to the Fest season.

Glad I don't have to work tomorrow!

If you like the taste you should join us on Sunday the 2nd September at the Volksfest itself!

But I am planning on being there!

Actually not that funny, Hofbrauhaus Freising supply the beer to the Allershausener volksfest too and last year they introduced an unfiltered beer, which everyone I spoke to didn't like very much! They gave out a questionaire to assess peoples opinions and most people I know said they didn't want it again. Unfortunately we were obviously in the minority, because we got it again this year! It wasn't undrinkable, just not as nice as their normal helles. I hope it's the normal stuff in Freising.

Unfiltered beer does bad things to your insides

can do funny things to your insides. If it is unfiltered it has to be fresh and the yeast has to be of a high quality. That or flash pasteurized.
