Hugendubel sells world maps as desk pads, but they are not huge, only about 1 meter by 60 centimetres. They are laminated so they keep long. I have one at home.
@ the "back" of Marienplatz - opposite the back of Alte Peter is a Map shop - can't for the life of me remember the name but I'm sure they would have what your looking for..

The international presses at the Airport have them, so maybe the ones at the Hauptbahnhof will have them too.

There's a place around the corner from the fountain at Stachus. Coming down Kaufingerstr towards the fountain, turn right after the fountain onto Sonnenstr, and there's a shop tucked away there about ten metres up. Good selection.

My colleagues and I picked up one of that big sized world maps from Hugendubel last month, pasted on the glass door in our office, so that our manager wont see us sleeping/browsing while passing by. Are you planning the same
