How to say "projects in the works" in German

Ok for those of you that actually read what I write, you know my English is bad enough. That being said my German beats it hands down. I was wondering if someone would know how to say 'we have some projects in the works which include...'

Not sure about the grammatical shit, but the 's and the 'en for plural are becoming more and more interchangeable. It used to be that only foreign words used the s for plural but it seems to be invading the popular speak as well.

The red thread crap is something I hate to hear. Basically it means I don't fucking understand you 9 times out of 10 when it is used. For that lone tenth time, it means how does this relate to the central concept. And as Noddy suggested, the red thread concept is abused in its actual meaning even among Germans. When someone starts talking die rote faden, then 9 times out of 10 they are talking shit.

Iain's solution sounds pretty good. "Wir haben einige Projekte am Laufen, darunter..." would be another possibility, though that'd be rather informal.

I learned from the best, Germans. I hear this all the time so if you have a problem with it, then talk to them. Of course, as we are all scientists and none of us were English or German majors and German scientists are notorious for bastardizing English words, then we will all be speaking SMS speak in the future anyways so don't get your panties in a wad.

um yes I actually had a sentence in front of it stating something that needs to be worked on. I don't know if I should make a huge run on sentence out of it. I assumed starting a new sentence with Deswegen would be fine. However correct me if I am wrong. Just so you know these projects are pretty righteous..

what you have is perfect iain. in translations, its helpful to produce the whole document for proof reading to make sure it all makes sense. of course, i understand even if its not a sensitive document not everyone wants every fuckwit on Toytown to be reading their stuff. always handy to have a native (who has a good understanding of grammar) to give it a once over.

Deswegen can only be used as a connector , therefore a sentence cannot be started with this word , there must be a logical reasoning before it , ie "Die vordere Eingang war gesperrt , deswegen sind wir durch die hintere Eingang eingetreten " , however your sentence was perfectly understandable

Been here for ten years and you can't translate word for word for fucks sake. You have to translate from the overall meaning. Also, I use American English as my base and if you don't get it, then you don't get it. "bestimmten Projekten" suggests that the damn projects are as important as breathing in German business speak. If they are so important then fine, but if not then don't go there because a German pendant will call you on it just like some try to do with the meaning of righteous.

I would love to talk to your colleagues , i´ve been here 12 years , have to speak german every day at work , and to be honest struggle sometimes to think how to say things in english , which is my native tongue . I have become used to thinking and speaking in german .

Me too and I have grown accustomed to watching out for the little hidden meanings that some words carry with them. This is especially true of zeugnis's which I refuse to write in German because of it. I may be fluent in German communication, but I am far from it in German grammar. My boss is a pedant with meanings and will go nuts over a single word used incorrectly or inappropriately (in his mind and this goes for Germanified English words too). I have gotten to the point that I feel like I should refuse to speak German around him anymore.

Ein Projekt ist in Arbeit*, but that phrase creaks.
*fem., dative would be "in der Arbeit" but that generally means in the office or at work.

If you´re prepared to accept "am Laufen" you could as well choose "in der Mache" (which probably comes closest to "in the works") ... but both are (if at all) at best for colloquial use in Northern Germany, definitely unacceptable in a serious business correspondence though
